viva-yes I do have 2 pairs of skinnies that I wear with the knee highs but I do not wear my knee highs much. Mostly it is either the wrong occasion or too warm for them in the afternoons in my area. They do best for things like football games.
I like my straight legs best with heels, but are ok with flats too. Only problem with them is they only look good with my 1 older pairs of boots with heels, otherwise they work with the pumps. None of my heels are over 2 1/2 inches, and the new ones are chunkier, but again, for me this works.

ANOTHER thing I have found is that BF jeans are not the only thing one can roll up. As per pinterest and a blog I found, other casual pants work ok rolled too. I have a pair of old kakis that I wore once rolled and liked the look-they are not skinny, but are narrow. I wore them with sandals, but I am going to try them with booties too.
Am going to do photos soon and will post. Have to get a lot of the ones in my camera downloaded to the laptop soon. I always forget to save ones I find I like from the blogs, etc.

Yes, I'd like to see some pictures, too. My problem is I bought some cute loafers and all of my pants are too long for them. I hate to rehem them, because then they would be too short for boots. Do I need to permanently designate some pants for flats and others for shoes with heels?

This is a really interesting post. I wish you had included pictures of your pant-and-shoe adventures! I agree about the straights; they are challenging. Do you ever wear them with heels? I wonder if the cut-out booties that Angie has posted might help with the density issues. And do you ever wear your skinnies tucked into knee-high boots?

I'm so impressed you did all that! My only goal is to get through laundry sorting, lol!

Trouser cut *does* make a huge difference in footwear. It irks my nerves. So many times I end up saying *if only* - if only these were longer, shorter, tapered, etc.

After much studying this board, pinterest, blogs, etc. I sorted all my jeans, dressier pants, etc. into lengths, bottom widths, and leg tightness. I have found all these things make a huge difference (at least to me) in the type of footwear that works best with them. Then the process of putting on each pair, lining up all the shoes and boots,(hint to make this faster-one leg had one shoe or boot and different one on the other).
Here is my conclusirons of what works and what doesn't, at least for me.

1. With the bootcut that are wide enough to actually fit loosely enough over the boots, and the boots are narrow enough and low enough this can work despite heel height, and even with flats.
2. straight cuts are the hardest, and have to be judged on an individual basis. Was disappointed that one of favs, basic grey that fit so well, did not work at all with my new wedge booties-just too much bottom density (if that makes scense)
3. The skinnies look best rolled above booties, but look best slouched a bit with flats and oxfords.
4. Am also starting to love the look of socks with the rolled skinnies, and will incorporate this as the weather cools.

would love to see photos and hear your take on this subject.
