Angie- so wise! I seldom actually book time wih myself to play and try new things without the pressure to get out the door.. I'll try to fix that this month

Aida - what great ideas. I'd been holding my pink Frye oxfords in reserve - they're not new to me, but I put them away in the Fall, and they're back! I'm also shopping for a leopard bootie that I think will be fun with skirts and jeans - they're to replace my sadly uncomfortable leopard pumps.

I love my cashmere sweaters so I may follow your trick of planning to put them away next month - that may encourage me to treasure them more in the meanwhile! And I'm going to start playing with what lighter weight blouses or cardigans I can layer NOW to add options.

Last week I found myself trying to dress for spring. That was my big problem. I jumped the gun and that's why all of a sudden I found myself with a wardrobe breakdown.

I hear you Nadya! I am not looking forward to our PNW "spring" :p Separate from scouring inspiration photos, I have found that I really do need to do lots of little things to keep myself from getting too down about things from January through March. A few of the things that have worked for me:

- I like to have a pair of boots, either purchased earlier in the season or right up new, that I don't pull out until January. That is a big upper! Last year, it was a pair of tall nude boots that my husband bought me for Xmas. It could also be a pair that I just won't wear during fall/winter so it feels new later in the season; for example I have a pair of nude short boots that I generally wear in early spring through early fall and then put away for late fall through winter.

- I put away all my cashmere and Proper Winter Sweaters in March, and pull out a few seasonal springy items that can handle the rain like my white blazer, lighter gauge sweaters, and sheer blouses, all of which can still be paired/layered with wintery items but inject some springy lightness. The rest usually stays neglected until late April when we get proper Spring weather.

- Having a new pair of jeans or pants in a different cut/color/print can help a lot; again, doesn't have to be new new and could just be something that I put away for fall/winter and pull out again in March so it just feels new for the season. I have a pair of very wide leg jeans and a pair of light gray wide leg trousers that fill this role.

What great ideas! I pulled from several of them and broke out a pink scarf today and also my pink Frye oxfords to jazz up a simple jeans and buttondown outfit. That helped with both the rut, and the cold I'm fighting off. Something about pink near my face makes me feel rosier.

The Fabruary challenge I'd seen and then forgotten. I may give it a whirl!

I know what you mean and a challenge helps. When Angie blogged about the black/ white/blue formula, I had fun seeing what I could come up with that could be worn right now. As has been mentioned, ideas could come from Pinterest or Forum members' outfits. You could even throw a bunch of clothes from your closet and see what outfits you can make from them.

Look for inspiration for pieces you already have on pinterest or gochicorgohome?

It helps me, anyway, to search for "dark wide-leg pants" or something, when I'm feeling bored with them, then pick out outfits that I can approximate with items from my closet.

How about selecting a few Spring pieces that you already have to go with your winter stuff? For instance: a white tee or button-down, a tee or sweater in any Spring color, a Spring-weight scarf in a light color. If you have a bag in a Spring color, you could bring that out--even if it's taupe or cognac versus black or dark brown.

I've been very happy with my fall/winter wardrobe and then this week the slump hit. It's a good two to four months or more until spring weather arrives. I don't need new clothes, just a way to look at my wardrobe with a fresh eye. What do you do to spice things up after several months with the same clothes, and several more to go?
