I think it works alright. For cropped pants I wear anklets. If I am wearing slacks, I might match some sheer hose to either the shoe or the slacks, depending. For bottoms where the ankles show, I wear either footies or anklets depending on how high the shaft is. I often have extra room in my booties due to low volume feet so I can actually wear thicker no-show socks (like the athletic kind that's meant to go in sneakers), which are comfy and warmer.
