(In cool weather, that is.) Largely because I detest hose with a passion, and spend so much of the winter in boots (outdoors) that I don't want to start booties too early (and the winter boots don't come indoors).</p> <p>If I'm wearing ankle pants and flat shoes in cool weather, I will choose the socks to complement the outfit. I like stripes and menswear patterns, usually in black and grey like the rest of my outfit. But, assuming you don't want to buy a whole bunch of shoes.... I think socks, if done well, can be cute. I would personally go for cute/funky patterns or colors, maybe scrunch them a little bit. This helps to prevent "stank foot" because it does gross me out to wear shoes with no sock or liner at all!<br />It's funny because I have noticed more and more (both men and women) wearing the calf length socks with shorts. I have not found a pair of high ankle boots yet where the pant falls outside of the shaft of the boot. So my sock was showing yesterday when I sat down. Is it ever okay to have your socks show? What is your solution to staying warmer in ankle boots, ankle pants and dealing with socks in general? I supposed you could wear a tall boot under an ankle pant?<br />Thanks! </p>
