Then try tucking some jeans or leggings in them, and they end up even lower. I think I need to stick to knee-height (which on me usually ends up being at least a couple of inches shy of the knee). The Rhumbas are pretty -- simple but pretty. I feel like the tall styles have been a bit stale for a few years now. And in a tall boot, it seems like quality becomes really, really apparent -- cheap leather looks cheap when it covers your entire calf. I like those first SW, gryffin. As for that second style, I have a love-hate relationship with OTK boots. I would try them again, but I'm not sure. I had the 5050's and I liked them, but I was stupid and kept them in a size just a little too big for me, so they always got gappy and wrinkly around my ankles. Plus I have fat knees (yes, this is a thing), and a lot of OTK boots come right up to where my knee fat starts, and then end, making the pudge bulge out over the top of the boot. Really not attractive. I don't want a very high heel. I want something I can wear all day and not feel like tearing off my feet after a couple of hours. That led me to get rid of most of my tall boots a year or two ago. Diana, I've drooled over those Valentinos too! Sometimes I get on a kick where I exhaustively search for some elusive item, and I really don't need it. Other than the Cortonas, which I got two years ago, my tall boots are 5+ years old, and most of them have heels that are too high for all-day comfort. A refresh would be nice, but maybe i'm barking up the wrong tree looking for something sleek. Hmmm. I am open to ideas, thanks for indulging my pondering. I don't know if it's too early in the season, or it's just me, but I really don't see anything interesting in the tall boot category that isn't a) really casual and not terribly sleek or refined b) or if it's sleek and refined it either is too conservative or it has a 4" heel c) or it's gorgeous but $1200. Any recommendations? I feel like tall boots are particularly hard to evaluate online.
