A hold and a charge are not the same thing. A hold means that if you have a credit limit of say $1000 and you order $600of stuff they will reduce your available to spend to $400...that hold will either ship and your bill will be changed or 7 days later the hold will clear. This is FYI the same thing that happens when you check into a hotel, they authorize your card to hold the full amount of your stay when you check in even though your official charge does not go through until you check out </p> <p>Here’s exactly what is worded in the email<br /> •<br /> We authorized your card for the full amount of the purchase when you placed your order. This authorization will fall off your account in about 7 business days, depending on your bank.<br /> •<br /> Your card will be charged the final amount when your order ships. It's strange that they can't just wait until they ship to charge your card, like they used to do. Wonder what precipitated that change...</p> <p>I can't see it affecting too many people that much, though, unless you order a ton of stuff and run up against your credit limit. Even if you receive a bill with a certain amount, you only have to pay what's current when it's due, not when the bill was sent.
