I love this dress; it is quite hit or miss for me too. I am a S or a M; but you can email them and they will give you the specific measurements.

Good luck! I have no experience with Anthropologie but the dress is very cute and has a bit of a retro feel. Would look good on you.

You could also ask over on effortlessanthropologie.blogspot.com, Roxie is very helpful with review posts, and gets LOTS of feedback on her threads, not sure she has reviewed that dress yet but she would answer your email. I used to be a much bigger Anthro lover than I've been the last couple of years...fabric quality has really fallen off, sizing is more inconsistent, and the online customer service is worse, yet they continue to charge for shipping and returns!

I would try to e-mail them and ask them if they can provide exact measurements for the sizes you are looking at. Or else do as you have suggested, write them with your measurements and ask them what size would be best.

I recently called White House Black Market about some jeans, because I wanted to know what size would be best to order. The customer service rep took my measurements, and then she called a WHBM store to speak with a sales rep, who deals with women all day in the fitting rooms. They were able to offer a suggestion that way, since the customer service people are very limited. I wonder if you wrote Anthro with your measurements and asked for them to call a store, if they could get a recommendation for you?

It's worth a try. Maybe lyn* from Canada will see this and comment. She has lots of dresses from Anthropologie.

If it helps, I have one dress from a brand they carry and I'd say it runs slightly small. Often if I wear a brand for mature ladies I'll need the XS, but I think Anthopologie caters to a younger clientele, so the S fit me best. I tried on one of their dresses in XS in a consignment store and it was just too tight all over.

On the colorways, boy do these all look so different! At first I thought they were different dresses. The second dress is so much shorter than the first. You might be able to wear either petite or regular, depending on where you want it to hit you. I prefer the neutral black and white one, personally, but they're all nice.

Thanks Ummlila, that's what I thought. Kinda scary. I noticed they do have a range of brands under their umbrella so quality seems like it would be inconsistent.

I find the bust size makes a huge difference. A lot of people saying they had to size up had an average to large bust. I have a small bust; but then again my ribcage isn't tiny, so there's another confusion factor! I wonder if I wrote to them with my measurements they'd answer sensibly - or just direct me to their size chart.

Anthropologie is very hit or miss. They have their own brands plus other outside brands they carry. The sizing and quality across these is inconsistent. Your best guide is the people who have reviewed the item, and even then, of course you may not have the same taste or standards. I have items from them that I love, but more that I've rejected.

Hello everyone! Long time without posting.

I came across this Anthro dress and am really intrigued by it. Living in Australia, I have to take an educated gamble if I'm to buy it, and pay big to ship back returns, and all the options are making me nervous! I'm not that good at looking and judging if something will work on me, I have to try it on to know.

So this dress comes in 2 colourways that I like (the white polkadot and the blue print). Already there I have expanded my options to 2 things.

Then people disagree about true-to-sizeness, so I'd probably have to order 2 sizes to try on.

Then there's the whole regular and petite option for hem length and bodice fit. If I had the cash I'd order regular and petite in 2 sizes, and 2 colours! It's doing my head in!

Anyway i just wanted to put it out there in case anyone has any insights or words of advice for me. I can't bear this burden alone any longer :)
