I had a gift certificate from my MIL for J.Crew and I had held onto it for over a year because I couldn't ever find anything in their stores that appealed to me. But during the Shoptoberfest YLF weekend we all went into J.Crew and I came out with a great burgandy sweater that I will be able to wear with several pairs of jeans and at least 3 different pairs of slouchy pants - so it felt like a really great buy! (And, I have 30-some dollars left on the card!) </p> <p>I also ended up buying a purple jacket at H&amp;M during the same weekend. It still has the tags on it - so, haven't decided if I'm going to keep it or not. By buying it, I broke my almost 2 years SYC streak - I'm not sure if it is fabulous enough to be the item to break that streak - so, maybe I'll post a pic of it and see what others think</p> <p>Also, got a pair of black booties this month that I had a credit for at the store - does that count? I "might* keep one bag. And I found a pair of the jeans I had been shopping for so I went ahead and got them while I could. All in all it was a pretty successful month of not shopping for extas or for fun. I struggled with the satin blazer, finally purchased it, and then wished it to fit but it didn't. Too long Returned it on Sunday, and so I am now officially in the clear for the OctNOber goal I had.<br /> I got a top on Yoox this weekend, but I was using my billing cycle, rather than the calendar month, as my 'month', so it was well over 30 days by then.</p> <p>Interestingly (well, if you're a numbers geek I guess lol) I will have bought 52 items this year.( EDIT: before you all think I've got armloads of 'pretties', this includes bras, undies, yoga pants, lounge dress, belts, etc.) Same number as there are weeks in the year. My goal next year *was* originally 26 items, but has since been scaled way back to 12 (yikes) and my budget will be roughly $1000.<br /> This month was good practice toward next year's plan. In a way, it can be freeing at the same time as it is constricting. Not sure if that makes sense. I think the waiting and debating just which piece is worth it makes it all the more enjoyable once you find the right thing. Simply instantly gratifying is not as satisfying an experience. </p> <p>How did you all do with your various budgets, bans, or other such shopping plans? </p>
