I like your shoe choices, (love the white oxfords), and agree that the third comfy pair could work well if styled properly. Also they would make great house or yard shoes if for whatever reason you tire of wearing them out an about, easy to slip on and off.

Love your #3 colorful flats in the second group, those should be fun with summer outfits.

I wear socks with all my oxfords, usually it's the no-show thin cotton converse socks. Sometimes I wear socks that show intentionally and incorporate them as part of the look as annagybe and Runcarla mentioned. They are cut low enough that they are invisible.

Thanks Angie - I think I will. DH and I are going on another long walk today because the weather is gorgeous and in the 60s. I woke up this morning and my first thought was "if I had bought those shoes, I'd wear them to walk today"... so that must be telling me something!

Actually, I've been wearing socks with my monk strap brogues and my high shaft booties. I've worn tall socks that close the gap with shorter trousers, but I've also worn shorter or rumpled socks that show a bit of skin. Don't mind the look at all. It actually adds a twist to some of my more conventional outfits.

Shiny, I've always liked Clark's, especially because they generally use real leather. Although they have a reputation as being a comfort shoe and a bit frumpy, they do dip their toe into trends from time to time, so I always check them out.

My feet have been acting up, due in part to more walking in the Big City. I've completely given up on heels (special events only) and comfort is of paramount importance. Flats are best, but a small wedge works quite nicely as well.

Oxfords with black socks is a fringe fashion trend. I've done it a few times.
As far as the cloud steppers, they're pretty similar to the black Nikes with the white soles that were all over street style in last few years.

https://www.google.com/search?.....BBwQsAQIGQ

Alwaystrying, I tried these oxfords on with black ankle socks and I might be crazy but I thought it looked cute! Because the laces are black. Cute in an intentionally geeky sort of way. Though I agree not all oxfords look good with socks!

What staysfit said, everyone should have a pair of comfy all day walk around shoes. I like #3 too. the booties are great. personal I do not wear oxfords as to e they do not do well without socks, and of course with socks is not the way to wear them.

Wow Shiny! You have done a great job updating your shoes! I think the pair in pic 3 is a super addition because it gives you a very comfortable option for days when your feet are particularly fussy. Everyone should have a pair of shoes like that. I have a pair of Naot shoes that serve that purpose. They are very comfy although not the most trendsetting pair I own.

IMO, they look nicer than most "orthopedic" shoes. Why not treat your feet well if the price is affordable?

I personally would not buy #3, because I tend to pair ultra-comfy shoes with ultra-comfy, casual outfits and then end up unhappy with the end result. But if you think that you could work the shoe into structured/polished outfits, go for it!

Ballet flats are classic, and I especially like the second #3 that you chose.

I don't think 3 are ugly at all... But I don't think they'd help if the rest of one's outfit is conservative... I'm thinking clam diggers and a striped shirt would not be the way to go with these.

I like all of these for you. #3 has the white soles to keep them from looking heavy. I don't think they are ugly. They look like a good casual choice and great with a black and white outfit.

Follow up post.... my footwear capsule has been in dire need of an update. My feet are super fussy these days, so shoe shopping has been a major dread for a long while. I pretty much need to refresh everything. In particular, flat but supportive shoes I can walk in.

Here are a few more shoes I've bought recently to update the shoe capsule.....

Pic 1 & 2 - I hope ballet shoes aren't out of date; they tend to work for my wide and full foot. I envision these as shoes I can pack for travel and swap out of heels into flats at the end of the business day.

Pic 3 - I couldn't help myself. Comfortable and totally awesome.

Pic 4 - update to similar shoe I wore into the ground.

I went to try on those orange sneakers Angie raved about. Unfortunately, they were not for me -- great arch support but too narrow.

I tried on a pile of shoes and liked many of them but fit was all over the map! I ranged from a 5-1/2 to a 6-1/2 depending on the style, and many were too narrow or the arch just hit wrong for me.

However I did luck out and brought home these booties (pic 1) and oxfords (pic 2) .... both super comfy! What do you think?

Meanwhile I left these cloud steppers behind -- pic 3. But now I am wondering if I should buy them, as I see them on zappo's for cheaper, but more importantly, they were SO COMFORTABLE. I just wasn't sure about the fashion quotient? Are they ugly?
