Some good, in college people, students and teachers alike, are far more open to considering my point of view and my overly researched rambling than when I was in school in Mass. I've made friends here and even my fandom based quirks seem normal because I'm not loving these things alone.

There are not so good things too. I worked at Walmart in both states, and I never got spoken down

to

or openly insulted while working nearly as much in Mass, even while performing my job the way they requested. Like my uniform invalidated me as a person. Or the extra giant, easily bruised egos on my boyfriends friends. One of them said, quite comfortably, that I was a "Frigid, sexually repressed nun that probably moaned every time someone bumped into me." because I didn't want to have sex with him.

I'm a bit north of you, in NH. It's been ridiculously warm here (someone was tapping their maple trees on Jan 31st!!), but I'll keep most of the sweaters and jackets out through May at least. Even once the snow is all done in March/April there's usually at least a month, if not more, of mud and slush, so the boots stay out too...

First half of February? Yes, I think it's a little early. The biggest snow storms we've had here have been around President's Weekend. However, the forecast is for nearly 60 degrees this week. I hope the trees don't start budding too soon.

I'm a few states south of you, but I never make the seasonal switch until March/April. We have been surprised with enough March snowstorms that I know better. Although just a couple of years ago, I ran a half marathon in DC on St Patrick's Day, and the cherry blossoms were already blooming!

You would think I'd have learned last year when we didn't really get hit up here until February but here I was hoping that it was a fluke lol.

The polar vortex that gripped Chicago the last two years (thankfully not this year), taught me not to make the switch until June (gasp!). It was awful. I had to keep bringing the warm clothing I was so sick of back out in April and May. I love and need the color clarity of Spring apparel, so I make sure I purchase some warmer items then, that I can also wear into Fall. Oh and I wear lighter, thinner, but still warm colorful scarves with my black all weather 3/4 coat for the transition.

I got a really nice woolly cardigan and two nice thick infinity scarves in blush and white for Christmas, I'm keeping those out alongside my sweaters. <3

I've learned here to stock up on some spring woollies...warm pieces in shades of pink/blush, mint, light blue, floral sweaters, light neutrals. Now is the perfect time to pull them out. This is as a result of missing the mark having only spring things for warm days. Ideally, layerable outfits would be in the planning, something I need to work on.

broadearthqueen, where are you located? I'm in Boston and it was very springlike here early this week and now we're covered in snow I didn't make the seasonal change though because I know Boston winters too well

Don't feel dumb!! I am feeling the same exact pull to transition. It will be an easy transition this year because at least one-third of my winter clothes have not been worn.

It's been so warm up here for the past month that I (foolishly) assumed that it was safe to start transitioning in my Spring clothes. I kept a few sweaters out as a just in case but of course this is when we get the big snow lol. It's no huge hassle, everything fits in one crate either way. I just feel a bit dumb lol.
