What a luscious color leather.
I'm thinking darker neutrals- near neutral lets the leather star, though there's no reason why you couldn't play with colors like the purple suggested.
Black is easiest to find , but I like the charcoal- dark gray as softer. Navy also. You could experiment with a layering under, and I assume that would need to be a thin flat knit-- cotton or rayon or merino. For layering over you could juxtapose texture of a chunky sweater cardigan bomber, or denim as suggested.
Keep a lot of options in mind. There's the maybe ideal mythical something and then there's what's out there so it does not become an orphan.
I'd play in my closet first to hone in on some proportions, then take the dress
on a research expedition.
Your advantage is the clot EOL go with a lot, and the leather will play off of a lot of other fabrics ( like a leather jacket in reverse).

Lori, this is a gorgeous dress. I think your styling options are going to be many. I apologise that I am not familiar with your style so my thoughts might not correlate with your style preferences, but here goes:)

1 wear as in#2 for warm weather. Bare legs and edgy sandals
2 same as above but with relaxed leggings
3 layer a turtleneck underneath with elbow length sleeves
4 layer over skinny jeans and heels
5 as above and add a draped jacket

I wouldn't wear shoes of the same color - I think it'd be too overwhelming at that point, since the entire dress is that color. I think a charcoal or olive booties/pumps would go really well, with similar colored tights. If you wanted a bit of color, I'd try to match the warmth of the brown.

I'd also vote jacket over instead of shirt under it. It already has a pretty high neckline, so I think a turtleneck might look a bit strange under it.

I have shoes and boots that colour, so that is what I would do, and sheer hose. Summer time with bare legs and sandals. As a tunic over skinny jeans.

Black hose and black shoes with a black turtleneck underneath, would be conventional for winter. Purple would be gorgeous.

at TJMaxx today. Now, how do i wear it?!
It's the softest honey color leather, and fits like a true shift dress; hanging straight down, and just skimmin my body. NOT tight. That's why i love it. But it's shorter than i'm used to, so tights are a given. But what color, and with what shoe? i don't want to try and match the leather..? Jacket or shirt underneath?
