Leggings / skinny stretch pants with long tunics is considered okay for office wear here in India. Maybe if your office is good with it you could try a pair of leggings, or even skinny fit pants in your current size. Because they stretch they should fit you as you size down.

Or else dresses & skirts it is.

I know how you feel over the past 12-18 months several pounds have crept on, thankfully I'm just about the same size but things just don't look so great anymore. 4 pairs of jeans and 5 tunic dresses have gone to the end of the wardrobe I've been really lucky to find a couple of dresses with full skirts that skim my hip bulges but will still fit when I lose the pounds x

If you buy the next size up you are not admitting defeat, you are acknowledging reality. You have a month of discipline ahead of you so it sounds like you know what you need to do to lose those extra pounds and how long it will take you.
Buy yourself some nice clothes for the body you are in right now and meanwhile launch your plan of action.
You can always sell these purchases or pass them on when you regain your ideal shape and size.

Do you have any skirts that sit on the hip? I find hiking them up to my actual waist creates a bit of room. Wear with an untucked top of course.

And if you can, a pair of ponte pants and a tube skirt should help as stopgaps that can continue to be workhorses after you are back to usual.

If you generally wear your tops untucked you might try the old early pregnancy trick of using a ponytail elastic through the button hole and looped over the button to give you an extra inch or two.

If I eat no McDonald's, I will lose 5lbs in a week. I agree, skirts and dresses are forgiving, and 2-3 bottoms will do.

Great advice already. I would only add you need clothes to fit your body now. Just a couple of nice bottoms would be enough

Drop all carbs for a bit. Think South Beach diet. You are probably retaining a bit of fluid, and carb bloat is concentrated in the tummy area. Don't panic as I doubt it is all real weight gain although a small portion may be.

Advice above re dresses & skirts is quite good.

How about those Vince Camuto midi tube skirts? They are very soft and might fit both before and after the weight loss.

Skirts and dresses are kind to hips. Perhaps buy a single pair of trousers in your new size and plan to wear them 2-3 times per week. Make sure they are very plain and basic so you can make them look different with tops.

Whoops! Ok that is weird -- this post said it was by Una when I responded!

Sorry! But dresses and skirts would likely be most forgiving.

I am back from long vacation. And it seems I enjoyed my vacation little too much. I have not even noticed that I gained the weight because I spent my days in baggy shorts. But now that I am back and had to wear my more strict clothes for work I realized that none of my clothes fit me any more. Tops are not that bad, but bottoms, OMG! They pintch, they squiz, they are so uncomfortable. Specialy in this heat! And not to mention that many of them I can not even button up. I am at loss at what to wear to work. I am so frustrated and angry with myself. I don't want to go shopping for the bigger size up, it will be like admiting defeat. But I can not be naked or go to work in my baggy shorts either. I am afarid it will take at least a month of very disciplined behaviour to return to my previous weight. But what to do in mean time? Thanks for listenning.
