Stagiaire Fash on "So close!"

Hm, these are interesting. Not different colors, but an embossed pattern.
https://m.shop.nordstrom.com/s.....%20leather
I don’t think those exact shoes will work, because they only come in black and brown, which are well-represented in my shoe rack (that’s traveling across the ocean) already, but leather that’s been worked like that is something to keep my eyes open for.

I’m also kinda wishing I’d jumped on these while my size was still in stock.
https://m.eu.topshop.com/en/ts.....ts-7926822
They aren’t the warmest, but they certainly could be worn with socks, and by the time I need the warmest shoes, our stuff will be here. Wonder if I should look for them in stores.

These are playful. https://m.shop.nordstrom.com/s.....%20leather
I like playful, but don’t know if these are crisp enough for networking, etc

Aaaaand I’ve reached the my limit in the ascending price sort. This sure would be more fun if I had the shoes already. The shoes from the Office of Angela Scott are beautiful, Think! are quirky and awesome, and Melvin and Hamilton are simply great. Maybe it’s time to learn the German equivalent of 6pm or Lyst.

Sydney, I like that idea, having often admired Sarto’s shoes at Nordy’s when I didn’t have a need for them.

Jane, look what I happened across when I stopped in a shoe store today. I will have to look up their whole line-saw a lot I liked.

I can’t remember who the maker of the shoe in the first pic is, just thought it would be a humorously bad interpretation of my request. I’ve gotten many good leads—nothing like that—on this thread, & I thank you all

Angie, That’ll be a day trip if I get a job in Bonn!

I’m applying there, partly to get out of the big city, partly to be near France & the Low Countries (read: “something more interesting and safer for my son than Poland”). I loved my years in Berlin, but I have changed and the city has too. Can’t recreate those glory days. At my son’s current age, a medium-sized city offers all he needs. If he wants a big city in a few years, he can go to university here or in Paris or London, which are the same distance from Bonn (very roughly), or Amsterdam, closer to me. Main thing is: Mama needs a job! We are in a sublet now. I can’t wait to get our own place where ever I am working.

There is another Fabber who has made huge changes in the past year. She is an inspiration to me (and I already have my kitchen planned out )

Jane, I’ve admired Pikolinos from afar, and now am thoroughly enjoying my sandals from them. My fallback shoes for this search would be a pair of red Pikolinos. But I did not know they had ever had that kind of print. I will have to look for it. That would be fantastic.

The Melvin and Hamilton offering is superb! So much variety, beautiful detailing and patterns. I am a big fan of Paul Green, another European brand that I like is Think! But I don't think they have much int eh way of patterns (yet!). Angie had some lovely Oxford Pikolinos with a bronze style floral print a few months back.

But those last two links are sososososo good, it’s worth any embarrassment of showing up with the same pitiful story again. Thank you, JOHA and ROBERTA!

OMG, the Melvin and Hamilton line makes me weak in the knees. There's even an embroidered Roberta ankle boot! Alas, they don't ship to the US. More classic (and more expensive) but still gorgeous are The Office of Angela Scott at https://theofficeofangelascott.....ons/womens.

Have you tried Melvin & Hamilton? I like them for their interesting colourful and sometimes quirky shoes in a really good quality and last years boots have held up really well.

https://www.melvin-hamilton.de.....y-fbb.html

https://www.melvin-hamilton.de.....-navy.html

https://www.melvin-hamilton.de.....odery.html

https://www.melvin-hamilton.de.....black.html

They are pricey but are often on sale also at zalando.de and other sites. They go up to size 10/42 and sometimes even to bigger sizes.

The name of a shoes refers to the base upon which it is produced (leisten in German) and so some run narrow and others are sufficiently roomy. I had a lot of trial and error finding a good fit but maybe you can find these shoes in brick and mortar stores in Berlin.

This (I think) is what's on the way, as much to remind myself as anything else.

The very sensible shoes in the find.

From this post https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....e-all-i-do everything (navy 3" booties, high vamp black shoes, black Mary Janes, short black boots) in pic2-4, nothing in 5 (but maybe the black zip-up sandals), black pumps and purple velvet loafers in 6, middle white sandals with 2" heels in 7, (Some of the shoes in that post are quite old and literally fell apart when I tried to wear them). Not the boots in finds--the fabric wore off when I tried cleaning them.

From this post, https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....t-footwear the tall brown boots with 3" heel in 2 & 11 (same thing)

From this post, the 2" tan sandals in 1 & 4 https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....ous-people

That’s 8 pairs of shoes and 4 of boots.

I enjoyed light-colored footwear last winter, should probably get some again, but I don't think that's what I need right now--better to get something that doesn't call attention to itself, so dark, like most of my pants are, and the pattern needs to be fairly low contrast.

These shoes are almost what I’m looking for, but not quite. And they don’t have them in my size. I need a US 10. These don’t even go to 9 US. https://www.salamander-online......8&;

But they aren’t quite what I want anyway. Yes to good, solid lace-up shoes that I can wear socks with when it gets cold. But no to more black footwear. I believe I have 6 or 7 pairs on their way to me, so more black is really not what I need.

The loafers that I have enjoyed wearing so much over the past year were an experiment, to see if I liked patterned shoes. It was obvious half a year ago that the answer was “yes”, so I got these boots, which I can’t wait to wear when they get here. What I want now are good, solid lace-up shoes in a pattern.

I would absolutely love to find honest-to-goodness brocade, as is available on so many boots these days. Animal patterns, if low-contrast enough, could also scratch this itch. They are on plenty of sandals, high heels, little loafers and other warm weather shoes, but not on the kind of shoes I need. The Doc Martens oxfords don’t quite work, because they announce themselves too loudly. I want interesting shoes, but they also have to be able to fly under the wire.

I’m thinking of flat shoes, but a heel like these Paul Greens have would also work.
