I loved my years in Berlin, but I have changed and the city has too. Can’t recreate those glory days. At my son’s current age, a medium-sized city offers all he needs. If he wants a big city in a few years, he can go to university here or in Paris or London, which are the same distance from Bonn (very roughly), or Amsterdam, closer to me. Main thing is: Mama needs a job! We are in a sublet now. I can’t wait to get our own place where ever I am working. </p> <p>There is another Fabber who has made huge changes in the past year. It was obvious half a year ago that the answer was “yes”, so I got these boots, which I can’t wait to wear when they get here. What I want now are good, solid lace-up shoes in a pattern. </p> <p>I would absolutely love to find honest-to-goodness brocade, as is available on so many boots these days. Animal patterns, if low-contrast enough, could also scratch this itch. They are on plenty of sandals, high heels, little loafers and other warm weather shoes, but not on the kind of shoes I need. The Doc Martens oxfords don’t quite work, because they announce themselves too loudly. I want interesting shoes, but they also have to be able to fly under the wire. </p> <p>I’m thinking of flat shoes, but a heel like these Paul Greens have would also work. </p>
