I feel over jeggings with babydoll tunic length tops. But I like leggings still even as a layering piece. I haven’t yet tried barrel jeans much as I love them. </p> <p> I do love the examples and conversation here, to try different pants styles and shapes with tunics. </p> <p>Also, try your tunic with tube or column skirt. Try various skirt lengths too—not just maxi. It could be really interesting and lovely! Depends on the proportions and all that but worth trying? And maybe how one defines “ tunic”. Some of the looks above might be considered ” longer tops” which now LOOK longer due to the ubiquitous shorter and cropped tops.<br /> As a somewhat a pear- shaped person, with narrower shoulders, a challenge in even regular tops is finding cuts that slide over hips without sizing up so much that the top is sloppy, and also avoid too strong of an A-line or “ babydoll” shape. Tunics make that harder. So practically, because I was also not much of a leggings person either, I didn’t do much tunic styling. A few times I had some really warm leggings and cozy fleece tunic styles I was quite happy with the look and feel but mostly indoor because of running cold- natured.<br /> The fuller the pants style, the more volume the tunic or even longer top has to slide over. I agree to rather wear tunics with wider bottoms, even straight jeans rather than leggings if you don't have wide bottoms. That said I have some slightly cropped zebra print leggings that I will wear in summer just not with the traditional tunic top we saw years ago. I like to wear them with a long cotton button down that is so long it feels like hybrid tunic/button down. Actually it doesn't have buttons but metal pressers.
