We need a big heavy duty snow blower for a DH who thinks scooping many inches of heavy wet snow is a normal activity after open heart surgery. Even a thin wool layer (tank top or short- or longsleeved tee) might help a lot. And several thin layers are often better than one or two thick ones. A thin puffer jacket can be worn indoors in winter. Fleece-leggings and/or wool tights and/or long wool(-blend) underwear help to keep my legs warm when being outdoors in freezing temperatures and can also be worn indoors on very cold days/nights. Another tip: A silk scarf worn under a large scarf in wool or another warm fabric provides extra warmth in a comfortable way.</p> <p>Sorry to hear about your cold. Healthy tips: hot tea and/or hot soup. Add chili, ginger, garlic, lemon, honey, etc. Take hot footbaths, and use wool socks (afterwards ). Wishing you a quick recovery.</p> <p>And by all means: When outdoors in freezing temperatures, do wear gloves or mittens! (I often bring an extra pair, and when temperatures are below minus 10 Celsius degrees, I might wear them both at the same time.)
