My husband does most of the shoveling, and we pay a guy to plow the driveway. This year we've run out of space to put the snow. The dog does fine - she tunnels or kind of surfs around. Her long legs help a lot too! School hasn't even been cancelled this year yet. It's just life as usual for the most part. I was telling my husband there are more types of specialized snow removal vehicles here than I've ever seen. In MA it was just guys with plows on pickup trucks.</p> <p>I have been feeling a little stir-crazy though, even with getting out to snowshoe or ski. Yesterday I told my husband I felt a "Shining" moment coming on. He asked if he should lock up the knives. We usually get out to somewhere warm this time of year, but we didn't plan a trip this year!</p> <p>It's been a bad year for moose - they've been forced to walk on roads and train tracks, and they've been getting hit in record numbers. Last year was so bad that we broke our snow shovel and ended up buying a new one this year. Thing is? The new snow shovel we bought in early October has only been used twice since we bought it. I've used that thing twice in five months, and last year - I was shoveling three or four times a week. </p> <p>Meanwhile, for all my angst about needing a proper winter coat - it turns out that I haven't really needed one this season.
