While most of us are thinking about FAR more important things, I received the dusty green sneakers from Nordstrom yesterday. The color is a bit more saturated than shown in the find, but it's too cool for most of my wardrobe so I'm going to return them. I was kind of expecting this what wanted to give it a go. It is a really pretty cooler light green, that would be great for someone who wears a lot of white and blue or has a generally cooler-toned wardrobe.

Angie, yes I agree our shoe needs are very similar, alhtough our personal styels overall are quite different. It's fascinating how that works out. It's so helpful for us all to share these details - it makes it so much easier to sort through the oh-so-many shoe options these days (especially online) to know which fabbers do or do not share our own needs. Kind of like us all being personal shoppers for each other!

Chris, thanks! YES, I know that lined ECCO boot, and wish it came in a light colour. Maybe next year.

My feet are lower volume than yours, but our foot needs are very similar:

"my requirements in shoes are as follows: I need a LOT of sole padding from front to back, moderate arch support, and a somewhat stiff material so they feel like they hold my foot in all around. I have low volume feet but medium width so fitting slip on sneakers + loafers can be tricky. (Sandals are even trickier)"

HIGH FIVE :)

I will add:

No heels higher than 1.5 inches. Not too much arch support. Narrow silhouettes. Soles that are robust so that I am not too close to the ground. Must wear narrows in sandals, and even those can be too wide. I can wear mules if they are narrow.

Suz, I think you are spot on with the monniker "tomboy" for the styles that don't appeal to me but are right up RunCarla's alley..thanks!

StyleFan, it looks like Naturalizer does offer wide widths, but Trask, Vagabond, and Vionic do not. Maybe Naturalizer has some other sneakers that come in an olive color...none that I've found so far but it seems spring shoes are appearing more as we get closer to spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

Angie, I forgot to inlcude the find for the Ecco High Tops that I have and love....Yes they are SUPER...same style as you show but in a waterproof version with a fuzzy lining. Perfect winter everyday boot. for me. If we had had more glare ice or large snow piles I would have worn something different but this winter was mild as far as snow and ice.

Thanks for the info on the slip on "woven" Eccos!

Good to know La P! I know you wear a lot of olive so your recommendation really helps!

The Trask pair looks perfect for you! I like the slim profile and the extra texture. Fingers crossed at least one of the green pairs works out. I love my olive Vans for winter and mint Adidas for spring. Bought both with an eye to complementing my olive/sage capsules, but they go with lots of other things too.

Thanks for the review, Chris. I am looking for an olive or bronze sneaker. I need lots of cushioning and support. I also wear mine sockless so I like leather or suede on the inside. I have medium width feet that get inflamed so I won't be able to wear them all the time but that is okay.
I don't mind a tomboy look.

I think maybe "tomboy" is more what you are getting at, Chris. For me, the white sole adds femininity but it does depend very much on the toe shape and other aspects of the sneaker. In my Ecco 7s I don't feel too "tomboy" but I often do in my flatform Cons. So I think I understand what you mean.

Great reviews and really nice looking sneakers! I hope you find a pair that works well.

RunCarla, thanks, and yes I have tried those Seibel Caren sneakers. Super comfortable and well made but to me their style looks too menswear like my black tie Eccos. I know it's totally a subjective thing and I can't quite explain it. For those who like that style, and I know you do, the JS ones are a great choice! I've had other JS shoes and they last a long time even with lots of wear.

@Chris987 - have you ever tried Joseph Seibel sneakers? I’m a fan of the Caren design. Wore out my Cognac pair. Picked up ‘Celeri’ as a compliment to my olive capsule last year, and now I’m considering these yellow ones. The sole and laces are cream, rather than white, though.

I’ve learned my lesson about the need to shop early for spring/summer footwear. It’s usually not until the second half of April that it consistently feel like spring in my neck of the woods, although it seems it might be earlier this year and I'm glad I started early. In spring and fall I wear booties and loafers, but increasingly I want to wear sneakers, so I want to add some this year, and thought I'd share some reviews.

So you can compare to your own needs, my requirements in shoes are as follows: I need a LOT of sole padding from front to back, moderate arch support, and a somewhat stiff material so they feel like they hold my foot in all around. I have low volume feet but medium width so fitting slip on sneakers + loafers can be tricky. (Sandals are even trickier) I can’t wear anything backless.

For shoes I generally buy what to me are high-end brands (probably mid-range if you consider the designer ones). I find mid-range brands more likely to have enough cushioning and support, and for sneakers they are more likely to have suede-like insides that are comfortable for wearing sockless,

For reference, I currently own these non-sporty sneakers:

Ecco Soft 7 High Tops - perfect everyday winter boots, super comfy, grippy sole, warm, waterproof, have worn these a LOT this winter.
Ecco Soft 7 tie sneaker …incredibly comfortable but the style (black with a white sole and ties) is too menswear for me so I wear as house shoes, and always keep an eye out for new colors offered..
Ecco Soft7 slip on – incredibly comfortable, wore a lot late last summer into fall. Doesn’t feel so menswear in the slip-on style somehow. I also watch for new colors on this one.
Grey Born Tamara - ok but sole is not as cushioned as I want and they are too small to add a thicker insole so don’t wear as much as I might (should have sized up)

New Sneakers that I'm testing at home...

B/W Snakeskin
Naturalizer Macayla. I bought these last fall anticipating a midwinter tropical vaca that didn’t happen, but very glad to have them. Very comfortable! With most Naturalizer shoes I have to add an insole or replace the stock one with a thicker one to get enough padding but not these, the existing insole is great.

Warm light neutral (will pick 1, leaning toward the Trask)
Sofft 7 in Vanilla. Super comfy but a bit too cool a neutral for my wardrobe so back they went.

Trask Lindsey. New brand to me. These remind me of a Kenneth Cole sneaker I wore a few years ago but passed on because they were always a bit tight. These are perfect. Love the overall design, the texture and tiny bit of sparkle.

Vagabond Shoemakers Zoe in “off white”. …It's a light bone color. I tried these because I remembered some discussion here a few months ago on this brand, which is also new to me. Incredibly comfortable and I love how they look on the foot. Gold grommets!!! (LOVE) A slightly thicker sole, but it is NOT stiff.

Greens (wild card)..might work with my olive items…just ordered these
Vagabond Shoemakers Zoe in “dusty mint”.

Vionic Kani slip on in olive perforated suede. Vionic arches are usually too stiff for me but will give them a go
