Well, I just got introduced to two great jackets. Wow. Beautiful!

Good luck on your search. I am no help because I have not tried one on, but I say, if you can find one you love, buy it.

Point taken LisaP:-) I need to check around for where they stock here in the US.

Ummlila , I'm normally in the flat chested broad shouldered camp myself( high five!). I'm breast feeding now so a bit bustier than usual but that won't last. I have a pretty strong shoulder line so our fits are prob similar. That jacket looks great on you! I don't think the shoulder is too strong .

I can take another if you like. I usually also wear size 4 and went for a 6 here.

I have been on a little blazer kick lately, 2 BCBG and 1 Boden. If you are interested in different fit profiles for jackets. I am flat chested and broad shouldered if thst helps....

You're in the US then? The Smythe website has a list of stockists. I'm not an advocate of trying on in a brick and mortar and then ordering online from somewhere else - and should not have suggested it. Just ignore that - it goes against my sales principles

UmmLila that's a gorgeous jacket as well!Any pics on you?

I am interested mainly in the equestrian style jackets but also the cross over blazer. Unfortunately LisaP I don't think there is a store nearby I can try them out, but I am looking... Our Saks closed last year and there isn't a Nordstroms nearby.

I have one, purchased recently. It was number 8 or 9 in a very long white jacket search. Not linen, but I would say a trans-seasonal piece that would be good for everything except high summer. I purchased one size up from my usual. I took the tags off. I'm still a little worried that the shoulder padding might be excessive on me.

I honestly would recommend going into a store and trying them on. Is that possible where you live?

Fab jacket LisaP, what a find!
Thank you and Stylefan for your advice and info. The sizing is a bit of a concern and I'm trying to get measurements anytime I am interested in a jacket. Prob is depending on someone else to give accurate measurements... I normally take a size 4 in most non designer blazers so my guess is I would take anywhere from a 4-8 in Smythe depending on the blazer. Sheesh! Not exactly a small range

Me again:) I hate to divulge this, because I'm supposed to be on a careful shopping plan, but.......I snapped up this beauty (see pic below) the other day on an incredible sale at a local boutique. Was not looking for it at all, but the owner "made me" try it on, and I fell in love. It's a cotton/linen blend ( I think) - and skews a bit summerier, but is it black, and not so obviously cotton-y that I plan on wearing it year round. This one is actually 2 full sizes up than i usually wear, and a size bigger than my other Smythe. There was only one left in the store and I ignored it at first because of the size. The store owner tells me that the girls at Smythe know their sizing is "off" but it is what it is. Anyways - I don't care at all about wrinkling - it adds to the charm of a linen jacket. Ordering from ebay could be dicey unless it's returnable , or unless you've tried it on in a store and are sure of the size. They really differ even from style to style.

I tried on a golden yellow linen Smythe jacket a few years ago (which I decided not to buy and now regret). The linen is very thick and substantial. I am a big linen fan and some linen wrinkles more easily. I suspect the Smythe jacket is made of linen that is less wrinkly. I have some pants like that.

It is hard to know what size you are going to be in a Smythe jacket. That jacket I was my regular size. Another jacket I went up a size. Who knows?

Thanks RetailGirl! Yup I will need to embrace the wrinkles a bit I'm hoping to find a heavier weight linen jacket that will go through most of the year. Too light and it might not be versatile enough, you know? I do recall Angie describing the wool Smythe jacket as "substantial" so it might be too heavy for me to get a lot wear. Not good esp considering how expensive they tend to run ! Hoping to snag one on consignment or eBay...

All linen wrinkles and I think you just have to embrace it! I don't mind wrinkles, myself...with jackets, I hang them up in the car, driving to and from work. I wash and iron linen shirts, try to avoid linen pants. I think the wrinkles make the garment look more authentic. Given your climate, I think you'd get more use out of linen, rather than wool. They say Smythe runs small, you'd want to make sure you had enough room so that you don't get wrinkles from the jkt. pulling.

I'm stalking Smythe blazers on the web and see a number of linen ones. Anyone have experience with them, weight, wrinkle factor? I was planning on buying a wool blend but it may make more sense to have a linen one as the temp here is between 55-85 degrees for 75% of the year. Thanks in advance!
