I don't think this style is intended to be straight, though, because it has the same cut as the Duchess jackets. </p> <p>These coat finds have me thinking a lot about how the not-tall, not-slim crowd can wear maxi coats without looking overwhelming. From brief online searches, it seems they can't, at least, not without heels. </p> <p>I have two maxi EF cardigans that work on me (at least to my eye), because they offer a straight but fluid column of color with minimal bulk. Critically, they're also worn open. Too long, overwhelming, and the welted pockets look to far down on your body. Is it comfortable when you move and also under the arms? If you plan to wear it over a jacket you may need to keep the medium instead, just to have a little extra space. I wouldn't wear a super chunky sweater underneath, because it would be pretty tight in the arm.
