Mo, that is a funny picture, to think of you holding up hangers to get the correct size! Ha ha. I just measured some of my clothing. Plus, I knew that the aforesaid bloggers were close to my measurements, so I figured what worked for them would work for me.

I did end up finding a good belt hanger from Bed Bath and Beyond. It is a wooden cylinder with four spokes on it, and you can hang the belts on the spokes. I don't have a lot of belts, so it works for me. If you had a lot, it might be annoying, because you'd have to take some belts off to get to others.

It's ironic that you have much better luck in juniors' clothing than in petites', yet you liked the petite hangers. I have much better luck in petites' clothing than juniors', yet I liked the junior hangers. Gotta love inconsistency!

Gigi, glad to hear you got your own perfect hangers! I did a lot of research ( I even put hangers up in my hair and had them lined up with my shoulders to take pics, pretty funny actually, to find the size that fit Me). I saw some of those 14". I went back and forth with emails for measurements on the ones I did get. To save, I got a box of 100, so I have too many even after giving some away to a friend. But it was only $77 including shipping so I couldn't pass that up!
Interestingly, my belt hanger is a cheapo from BigLots a few years ago and is perfect even for skinny belts. Haven't seen one since though :/

One of my splurges last year was for smaller hangers. Even the petite hangers are too large for me; I had to get something called juniors' hangers, which are 14". I found out about them through the blogs Alterations Needed and Extra Petite. Here are those bloggers' reviews of the hangers:

http://www.extrapetite.com/201.....s-and.html

http://www.alterationsneeded.c.....giveaway.h

I'm so glad that I got mine. I just got regular hangers, not any for skirts. And I do recommend staying away from their belt hanger--I ordered one, and the prongs are huge. It's impossible to fit a skinny belt on there. I asked for a credit for the product because I believe that that info should have been noted on the web page. They didn't refund the price of the hanger, but they gave me a discount off what I paid for the regular hangers, which came out to be close to the price of the belt hanger.

I just love love love the wooden ones I got but knew I couldn't bring them all. I'll leave the dry cleaner pants ones behind when we go back but they do the trick pretty well for now.

Some outfit used to sell ladies' sized jacket hangers on line and then it disappeared.
I have hoarded all the plastic and wooden suit jacket hangers that have come with purchases over the years as they're a couple inches smaller than what is sold at Container Store and so on.

I've also use the felt huggable hangers, the ones that are just open-ended, not the ones with full shape for shirts + pants, because of the curvature of the hanger that is more gradual, for some of my thinner or more deformable knit garments (which I hang) because the shoulders just flow over the curve and there's no sharp stop.

Several seasons back I invested in petite sized wooden hangers and it was one of the best things I did for my closet. I only brought so many here to FL since we flew and they are not exactly small and light. I brought at least enough for jackets and shirts that were not sleeveless so that I would not get shoulder bumps.
The rest I've had to collect from my BF's dry cleaning. Come to find out the pants hangers, that have the cardboard crossbar to drape slacks over, are about 16". Great fit in a pinch for smaller sizes. The wooden hangers I bought are 15.5" in comparison. I believe 'standard' hangers range from 17 to 18.
So, just a freebie/hack for those who are smaller in the shoulders and end up with those pesky bumps in the shoulders and arms of their garments because the hangers don't line up with our clothing's shoulders.
