It looks better in the 2nd photo than the first; the first one make it look really boxy.</p> <p>I wouldn't go as far as calling the first shorts Mom shorts, but they are of a color I associate with mom jeans. They would be great for casual outfits, and a good foundation for funky twists. Maybe a floaty ditsy floral top or a tank with a short-sleeve cascading cardi.</p> <p>I like the navy shorts! They are a bit too close to being puff sleeves.<br /> If is is judged as being too boxy all over than it wouldn't be worth removing the sleeves, unless you want to get into re-shaping the sides or adding waist darts, but you have kids to raise anyway so might as well toss it. I don't think i"d call those "mom shorts" they fit you well and you should be able to work them into your summer wardrobe quite well.
