One more thought on the lingerie... I am most sexy when I am confident in myself. Sure, I've lost a lot of weight recently, but it wasn't until I embraced who I am that I became more confident and therefor more sexy. At least according to my husband.

BMR, some wonderful thoughts have already been given, but I just want to share a few things from my experiences. This is really the first year of my life where I've had a more positive body image. YLF was a huge proponent in that change. It (and the lovely members) taught me to focus more on what I can accentuate vs. what I need to hide. I have big hips, and instead of letting those control me, I've decided to flip it to the positive and have started finding ways to accentuate my top half. Up until recently I've had poor skin, was 60 pounds overweight, and had unruly hair. I've learned to better those things and accept the unchangeables. Just remember - everybody has something about their body they don't love. So it's how you work with that that makes you fabulous, in my opinion.
I have a hard time believing that someone who weighs only 110 has large thighs. I used to weigh two of you and my thighs were large, but not uncontrollably huge. I think it's all about perspective. We compare our worst to someone elses best. I envy women who have smaller breasts. I love plunging necklines, but like Maya, I can't wear those or I look hoochy. I did just find some bras that a) fit and b) downplay my (I feel) large D size. I'm ecstatic that I can wear more v-necks now!
So please look at your body as a whole and embrace it for what it is. Nobody is perfect, and everybody has features that deserve to be accentuated.
And last but not least, join those of us here who are striving to be fabulous with what we have. Post pictures if you are comfortable and we'll start working together to bring you more fabulousness. I have grown leaps and bounds in many areas since participating in the forum. It's good to have you here!

Hi BlackMagicRose, it looks like you've got some great suggestions from other YLF members. Have these been helpful at all? If not, I'm wondering if there are some deeper issues going on regarding your self confidence and body image, and you might want to consider talking to a counselor about those. It makes me very sad that you have such a negative view of your body (and hair and skin), and I get the feeling that the feedback you've gotten here hasn't really helped you out all that much. Do you feel you have a support network or at least one trusted person around whom you can talk to and maybe make a plan for how to seek professional help with this? Counseling is a wonderful tool for helping to unearth some of the emotional issues that might distort your view of yourself.

But let me/us know if I'm overstepping a line here and if you feel that this forum is a place for you to get actionable suggestions. You might want to post a photo or give us some more pointers on what specifically would help you out in order to gain confidence and evolve your style.

BlackMagicRose - I also have very thick hair. I had to decide I wasn't going to look at celebrity pics and hair mags to decide what kind of hairstyle I wanted because there was no.way.on.earth it was going to work for me. It is worth it to find a stylist who is especially talented with thick hair and come up with something designed for your hair type. Trying to make thick hair look like many celebrity hairstyles is like fitting a round peg in a square hole. If you have a good cut in the style that's right for you, it will look stylish regardless of what the current trends are.

Thanks Angie. I did have a bra fitting anf my bras feel great. I was wearing a 34B for a long time and actually should be in a 30C, but I cannot find them where I live. 32B's work well for me. I do wear padded bras all of the time. They make me feel like a stuffed chicken and I have worn them since forever and even I am dissapointed when it comes off at the end of the night. I did try "chicken fillets" before and do not like how they feel.

simba2737 I have a very limited view of what is beautiful, I am aware of that and I just do not fit in the mold. It is very unfair for my own self esteem, but I just can't seem to get out of that mind set. Also, I can find beauty in just about any shape and all types of women but my own. I constantly compare myself to others and find beauty in just about everyone but myself. I will always admire long legs, a small waist, a large bust, perfect makeup, nice lips and hair. I have a small waist, but nothing else. My skin is poor, my makeup never looks good and while my hair is thick, it just never does what I want it to.

You have received wonderful encouragement, BMR and I have nothing to top what’s already been said. Once you start loving your body because it works so hard for you, you’ll start to feel alluring. You are perfect right now!

But I’d like to know when you last had a professional bra fitting? Firstly, are you in the right bra, and secondly, consider a padded bra or “chicken fillets” before any type of cosmetic surgery.

I am also on the slim side, but 5'6'' and an A cup. I think that my body is attractive despite my small bust. I only really began to notice I was any smaller than others in college, when my very busty friends would point out their differences. I've wondered what it would be like to have a C cup, or even a B cup, but in the end this is who I am. Those same busty friends all had their own body issues and would tell me how lucky I was to have a slim athletic look and be able to wear a bigger variety of tops. My family ranges from AA to DD..all are uniquely attractive and feminine. I think that sometimes smaller chested women can feel inadequate and I know I feel insulted when people feel they can make comments on my size. There is so much variety amongst body types and not one feature makes one sexier than another. I'm happily married to a man that finds me attractive in every way and I am confident in myself.

I know you can't just grow confidence, but you can know that there is no one definition of femininity. I bet you have a ton of features about you that are wonderfully attractive, and as a package you are great, just like the rest of us.

I'm sure you are GORGEOUS! I find it strange that so many women feel so unsexy with smaller breasts when all models (who are considered to be the epitome of womanhood for many) have small breasts.

Breasts are only a small part of you. Many men find hips and thighs VERY ATTRACTIVE and SEXY, it's only women who are down on them.

The more you love and accept yourself as a whole, the more attractive and confident you will appear to all.

You will appear sexy in any underwear when you are confident in your own skin.

Blackmagic, I feel like this thread has been calling my name, but haven't had the time to do it justice.
I am another in this category (small bust/ big thighs) or so I thought anyway.
I am bigger than you, but not too dissimilar - 5 "4 , about 120, 33 inch bust and 37inch hips and thighs that are about 22 inches around. (Though Shiny said recently that wasn't so big - maybe yours aren't either)
When I am not breastfeeding I wear A cups or sometimes AA, so like Becky I was surprised to hear you think of a B cup as small! I really don't think for someone of your height and obviously slim build, that a B cup would be small.

Your family history does help explain your views and I can relate to that. It is very easy to just compare ourselves to our families, especially when they make comments! I know that I am not overweight, for example, but my mum, Auntie and sister are all thinner than I, and it sometimes that makes me think I am fat. Also most of the women in my family are flatchested , and before I joined YLF I though that a C-cup was really big!

Perhaps other things have contributed to feeling that your breasts aren't sexy. I know that being a small chested late developer at high school led me to think that someone like me wouldn't be attractive to the opposite sex. But I was wrong!!

I don't know much about lingerie except to say that I like to wear something that hides the bit between my thighs and hips, like french knickers.

Looking forward to seeing your pics. Please don't do the augmentation. I am sure YLF will be able to help you without resorting to that.

BlackMagic, I also wear a 32 band (sometimes a 30) and agree that they are hard to find. You might have better luck finding bras in 30 or 32 band size on websites like http://www.barenecessities.com or http://www.figleaves.com. They carry bras in band sizes from 28-56 and cup sizes AA-L in a variety of styles and price levels.

If you go down to a 30 band, though, you might find that you need to go up a cup size to avoid spilling out. (A 30B cup has roughly the same amount of "volume" as a 32A cup, although the cup shape may be a bit different.) A bra in a too-big band size can definitely cause problems with comfort and falling down throughout the day.

Thanks again for all the advice! I know that a 36C is the average size. A 32B is far from a 36C! Women in my family all have 36C or larger. My mom is a 38DDD and my grandmother was a 38F. Those are average in my family. I did not get those genes. I am the smallest on top of anyone else in my family and it has been noted by people in my family.

So, my views may be a little skewed because of that.

I do not have any full body shots. I will post some pictures that I have though and will take new ones when I can.

Also, I do not feel sexy when I fill out my chest with padding and such. I just dissapoint myself when I take off my bra at the end of the night. Also, I have never worn anything strapless in my life. Strapless bras do not fit me either, because I suspect my band size is more a 30 than a 32, but those are hard to find and they never stay up. So, I stay clear of anything requiring me to wear a strapless bra.

BMR, a 32B is my dream bust measurement! I'm a 32AA (pretty much completely flat-chested), though I also have muscular thighs and a generous bootie. I am discovering that certain higher-necked tops do, in fact, make the most of what I have, while deep v-necks and scoopnecks have a minimizing effect, so I am trying to be choosier in my shopping. Also, I've discovered that I like the way I look in knee-length skirts, either straight or slight A-line, as they skim over the muscular thighs. I, too, struggle with confidence in this area, but I'm learning!

I find it funny that you think a D or DD is average because to me a B or C is average, especially at a 32 band size. That shows our different perspectives. I just noticed Bella's response so it seems I'm right ;)

If you were larger I would kind of see where you're coming from, but you sound quite small and your band size is only a 32, which means anything upwards of a C is both hard to find and even harder to fit. I am a 32DDD, but I had trouble fitting into tops from the time I was a 32D. No one expects a person who is otherwise so small to have anything over a C cup, and consequently both bras and tops are much harder to find (not to mention much more expensive). If you decide to go through with this surgery, I just think you need to understand that your clothes will be MUCH more restrictive--in ways that you might not have even considered. Right now you're lucky that you do have a chest (a B is not completely flat) and you can use the right products to fill yourself out more. Like I mentioned, small busts can be made bigger, but bigger busts can't be pared down. Take advantage of the products that are available to you, and wear the right tops. You can still wear sexy/alluring tops in the form of halters, strapless, backless, and thin straps...and you say you have nice arms so I bet these would look amazing on you.

Aside from that, breasts are far from the only feminine and appealing part of the female form. In fact, study after study shows that men LIKE women with curvy hips and thighs, and that women with this body type are overall healthier and even more attractive (to both men and other women). A dainty waist is also very feminine and so many women (like me) would do anything to have that.

First I would post a picture here so we can confirm that you are indeed a pear. I can't tell you how many of us have been wrong about our body types, including me...or how many of us have thought a certain body part is abnormally large or small even though no one else sees it or gets the same impression. You might get some surprising results.

Hi there!
First of all, don't be too hard on yourself. I am sure you look better than you think you do. We are our harshest critique.
On the other hand, let's first get your facts straight. Your perception of average is pretty skewed. The average bust size of American women is 36C and not D or DD. Moreover, this number has increased in the last 15 years. It used to be 34B.
The main reason is not that the women have larger busts nowadays, but they weigh more than they used to. American women weigh approximately 20 pounds more than used to in 1960s.
My point is: you are perfectly average!

These are my sources if you want to check for yourself:
http://www.livescience.com/mys....._size.html
http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/.....butfat.htm

My suggestion is this: post a picture of yourself on the forum. We will help you determine your body type, find clothes that make you feel better in them, play out your strengths and cover up weaknesses.

There is no perfect body but we all have something we can be proud of. Don't give in to negative self-image.

Those are great tips kari and I do try to think about the positives, but I always come back to the flat chest thing. I feel like there is something missing and I do not feel very womanly and feminine.

I do have a smaller waist and I try to play it up, when I can. My lower belly has a pooch though and so it is a hard balancing act. My legs are large and not slim. I have large ankles. So, I wear things to cover them up when possible. My arms are slim. So, those are the two positives I have to work with.

BlackMagicRose, I have some pretty pear friends whose bodies sound very similar to yours, and they are able to wear things I could never get away with due to my large bust: deep V-necks without cleavage spilling out or having to cover up with a camisole underneath, tops that have a fitted bustline (on me they are almost always too small), spaghetti straps, strapless bras/dresses, voluminous ruffles, crew necks, halter necks, button-up tops that don't gape or pop open, cable-knit sweaters or chunky knits in general... not to mention being able to find bras in nearly any store rather than having to head to specialty lingerie shops or order online, and not having to pay $60 or upwards for each bra!

Cleavage or no, these friends look amazing and can definitely play up the bombshell/sexiness factor when they feel like it. One of my pretty pear friends weighed the same as I did, but she looked MUCH thinner next to me because she could show off her slim mid-section/ribcage just by putting on a fitted top, whereas I often end up looking large and lumpy all over.

Anyway, I think most of us have aspects of our bodies that we dislike or feel insecure about. Before you think seriously about surgery (which is a serious step with potential complications), can you try to emphasize parts of your body that you love? Your slender midsection or flat stomach? Toned arms or slim legs? Angie's pretty pear guidelines that LouLou linked to offers a great place to start!

Hi Maya. Thanks for posting. I see your points and I do understand. There are disadvantages to both extreems, but being in the middle 32(C/D/DD) is what I would like. I am a 32B. I have a variety of different sizes because of manufacturing differences and so on, but that is what I normally take.

I will stick around here for advice, for sure. I am really trying to avoid surgery.

My thighs are my least favorite part of my body and my small chest makes me feel unsexy and unattractive. Well, so do my thighs.

I have heard it before though. Women who have a large chest do not want their chests to be noticed and women with none at all want some attention.

Oh dear, I'm afraid you have opened up a can of worms with me. I have a big chest, and here is my experience with it (apologies to everyone who has heard my list of complaints a thousand and one times):

• Getting gawked at and ogled by creepy old men
• Being taken for an airhead
• Being suspected of having implants, stuffing my bra, etc
• Giving the impression of being easy or promiscuous (over something I have no control over...makes sense...)
• Rude and embarrassing remarks
• The total inability to ever truly look modest. You may not see anything wrong with this since you seem to have a more alluring and sexy aesthetic than I do, but just try and see what happens when you're in a professional or formal situation.
• Looking ten pounds heavier than I really am
• Not being able to wear pretty slash, boat, funnel, and turtle necklines. No crewnecks, skinny straps, halter tops, or strapless tops.
• Not being able to wear empire waists, which is a whole lot of suckiness because they are EVERYWHERE and without my stupid chest, they would look great on me
• Not being able to wear ruffles, chest pockets, or any kind of fun and interesting details on my tops
• Not being able to wear woven tops because they won't close over my chest
• Constantly having to worry about showing cleavage at work. Literally every moment of the day, I am making quick glances down my shirt to make sure nothing is popping out

You're going to have to learn what I am still learning: you are what you are, and you can either brood over it, or make the most of it. I have given you a list of things that I can't wear because of my big chest. You have the freedom to wear all of those things and more, so take advantage of it. Also, the single most important deciding factor in whether being small or large busted is preferable is this: as someone with a small bust, you have the freedom and a myriad of options to make your chest look bigger. But me? I have no choice. There is nothing I can do to make mine smaller.

Before you resort to an extreme measure, spend some time here and learn what to wear. Then if you're still not convinced, you can at least make a better informed decision. All I can say is that I would trade places with you any day of the week. My chest is hands-down my least favorite part of my body.

Just remember that people in general are more interested in themselves than in what you look like. If you can be a good listener and help others feel encouraged, people will seek you out. I can't say I've mastered this, but even a few sincere compliments can go a long way, especially with men

Rose, try V-necks that start close to your neck and end in a narrow V that doesn't expose much chest, if that makes sense. You can also still get the look by popping a cami under the V neck. I especially like a cami that's close to the color of my skin.

No, I sleep on my side nearly all of the time. Sometimes on my left and sometimes on my right. I also sleep on my back but rarely on my stomach.

As a fellow flat-chest I can tell you that sexiness, etc. is more a matter of attitude than endowment. Besides, who wants to be noticed for that?!
To feel better about yourself, focus on the parts of yourself you like, do what you can to have a healthy, toned body, and develop your talents and interests and sense of humor.

To test a very unscientific theory I have....do you sleep on your stomach most of the time?

Thanks for the advice. I do not wear revealing tops, because I do not have anything to show off! I stay away from v-necks and such, because I do not feel comfortable showing my boney chest.

Thanks for the thigh high advice. I have been scared way with them for now, but whenver I get some courage I will buy a new pair.

Honestly, you sound super skinny and maybe like you are being too hard on yourself. You probably have tons of ladies wishing they were as tiny as you are :)

I'm not that small on top right now because I've got a few pounds to lose, but when I am at my goal weight, I don't sport a lot in that area (yeah you read that right - I'd choose 8 pounds lighter and no chest). Anyway, I don't find being smaller to be that bad of a deal. Reason #1: You can wear super low cut dresses and tops without looking trashy. This comes in really handy in the summer. If you don't believe me, take a look at the girls modeling dresses on sites like revolveclothing.com. They're thin with not a lot in the chest area, and they are rocking those clothes. Or check out some Kate Hudson pictures.

For lingerie, if I don't like how it looks without a bra, I just wear one that coordinates underneath. Otherwise, I'll just go for styles with bra cups built in. Usually you can find babydolls or teddies that have this. For thigh highs, I'm super short and also larger in the thigh area (I'm a cyclist) but can still find ones that work. It's probably better to go with either the ones with very wide elastic up top, or ones with no elastic at all. Both of these types will reduce any "spillover".

Thanls Loulou. I will post a picture when I get a good one. I just wish I had something to show off when it comes to my cleavage. I am tired of padded, pushup bras, but I need them for some curves! I would love to wear a lacey bra with no padding, but I would have to go down to an A cup to fill one out. Any way, I did read Angie's advice on pear shapes. I just wish I could look sexy and not so "covered" and demure all of the time.

Try to make the most of your bust- push up bras with lots of detailing on them, frills, ribbons etc and keep your botom half simple.

Would it help to post a picture wearing form fitting clothes and we can help highlight your positives i'm sure there's loads and it's easier to see them in others than in ourselves x

I am a pear. I have a very small bust and large thighs. I totaly have no confidence in myself and after years of having a small bust, I am considering breast implants.

I really try to focu on the positive things about my body but right now, I cannot find any positives. Having a small bust is really unsexy and although I am thin (5'3" and 110 pounds), my thighs are still out of control. So two questions:

What can I do to feel better about myself?

What kind os lingerie is sexy on someone with my shape? I cannot wear thigh highs with sexy garter belts, because of my thighs.
