Aren't kids great?? I once sent our vacation picture out to all relatives, only for 9year old son to say 'Mum, your arms are really fat'

I have lurked though your other pics and I don't think this pants are flattering to your lovely figure (although I love the colour of the grey)

Thanks very much everyone. I consider this a learning exercise. Having processed this all now, I don't think I actually want 'slouchy' pants:) To be honest I am not convinced that the the low slung slouch pant is going to be particularly figure flattering and that is one of my priorities. I have a nice pair for summer but they do sit on the waist, fit is good and I know exactly how I will wear them. So back these ones go and thank you again for your input.

Lol, perhaps I should have paid more attention to Master 9 who said my 'butt looked massively big' in these pants.... nothing like unfiltered comments from a child

Go Deborah! If it makes you feel better, I can't even find a pair of slouchy pants, except for crops, to try! I'm learning from you today! And yes, I agree that a lower waist will help. I promise to post my first try too! Also --- I think the right pair will be fab. Oh, and I like the idea blue or gray, perhaps in a tweed or low-contrast houndstooth instead of black. It seems to me that the drape is harder to "see" in black. (I'm taking notes for myself, too).

I really, really like the idea of ink blue, black or dark grey slouchy trousers on you Deborah, but agree with Angie and Jonesy that a lower rise would be better. Thanks for sharing these pics with us, I found them very helpful, and again: you are going to rock this silhouette once you find the right pair.

I agree with Angie. The cut is just off somehow, so they don't look slouchy really. It's not you, it's the pants :)!!

I love that you tried these!! Now you know :)

Debs, I think you need a style with a lower rise to lengthen the torso. These look like high waisted classic trousers with pleats. I vote keep on looking.

Here is the thing with this type of pant, IMO. I do like them but you need to go super edgy with shoes and top. If not, they look dated.
Add a leather jacket, peep toe booties or ankle boots and you'll see a difference.

I dunno, Deborah. These still do not fit in the way that I imagine the new slouchy pants are supposed to fit; they are loose but they still look like classic trousers to me. Which is totally fine - I happen to love classic trousers - but I am not sure that is the vibe you are going for, correct?

I think you want something that is pretty much hip slung.

This, by the way, is why I am going to fail at styling those pink trousers for the Writersfest, even with your kind inspiration pics. Because although they are loose, the looseness is all in the leg, and they come up to my waist, more or less. So no matter how you slice and dice it, as Angie would say, they end up looking 90s. Alas!

By the way, I'm still going to try to work with the fuchsia and denim thing for an outfit. Just working with the blazer instead.

I prefer them in the grey because I can see the detail and my eye is drawn to the waist-band (narrowest) area.
Have you tried them with a belt yet?
They may work with a mid-length jacket if worn with a tucked top, but otherwise would be better with an untucked longer style topper.
After another front-on pic look I think it is the higher rise that is throwing out the proportions- they just may not work with anything else than an un-tucked top?

Thanks Scarlet. I think my biggest issue is that I feel I don't know what Im meant to wear with them. So from your comments, I am thinking that a low contrast top either tucked or untucked that creates a column of color might be best?

Deborah, my honest opinion is that you *can* wear these, but I think it's not my favorite in terms of flattery. They lengthen your legs but shorten your torso. I wonder if a slouchy lower waist style might work better? Or maybe a knit top that just covers the waist band but still allows the front to show?

Hi All,

About two weeks ago I posted a pair of 'slouchy' pants that in reality caused one or two to reluctantly relive the 90's lol.

The suggestion was too size up which I only got around to today. I apologise that there are a few pictures but I would really appreciate your feedback on these as this style is a departure for me.

#1 - #3
is close up pictures of the fit of the black pants.

#4 - #6
are the pants with a blouse thrown on. Just more angles to assess the pants.

#7 - #10
are the same pants but in grey.

*The multitude of poses is hopefully helpful in assessing the fit of the pants*

#11
is the grey pants taken from a lower cameral angle.

I normally take most of my WIW photos at the angle and as you can see it is not flattering at all when it comes to these pants. The other photos were taken at a higher angle, slightly looking down on me, which is what most people do when they look at me 'cos I am short!! However I am pretty sure this logic is completely flawed!

Thanks so much for taking the time to look. I don't feel confident work this one out on my own. I am not attached to the pants (though I am quite liking the black ones) so I do ask that you feel free to be honest. Are either of these keepers, or returns?

Thank you.
xxx Deborah
