Hm, I think I have a similar shape. If that is indeed the case, I'd second Sveta's suggestion of the Express Editors, and also mention Ann Taylor (for a tapered-but-not-too-tight look, I got the Signature Promenade pants, but that was a spring find so probably not available now).

If the Martin fits you well, slimming the leg is a pretty easy alteration, so that might be something to try.

Martin was a good fit for my curves but Sloan never worked - too straight.
If this is he same way with you try Express Editors. They have grey and black slim styles now.

Depends on how you are curved but normally no, they do not need to take the waist band off -- they just take a few darts in the waistband. These darts can extend beyond the waistband and still not be all that noticeable, with no need to remove the waistband. You'd only have to do that if you were so curvy it makes sense to also take in the sides and contour the side seams. In which case, you might be better off with a low rise -- do you prefer low rise in general?

If it's just darts, It can be a 5 minute sewing job. And quite inexpensive. In fact, if that's all you need, a tailor could do it while you wait.

Also BR offers free tailoring -- or at least, they used to -- though you'd probably have to wait a few days because I think they send this out.

What about simply belting them?

If belting works more or less okay then darts would definitely work.

I don't know what the Express offerings are like right now but I think they sometimes have a fit that works for a curvier shape. And Angie has sometimes recommended the Loft trousers, also -- though I can't vouch for them myself.

Is it? wouldn't they have to take the waistband off?

Anyhow, I need the pants for Tuesday, so it won't work right now ...

Good idea though!

I just tried on some Sloan pants at BR. Liked the silhouette and the fabric, but the size that fit my butt was too big in the waist, and sizing down had the opposite effect. Anyone know of a similar pant I should try!

(As a side note, Martin straight leg trousers fit fine and were flattering, but I do not feel fab with that much fabric around my ankles!)

Thanks!
