Thanks for the picture! I don't think this is the right look for work. For going out or casual outfits, maybe consider investing in a slip meant for this purpose if you truly love the look.

The site I posted shows slips with a substantial hem - either crocheted, or longer, or heavier visually. This helps it look like it's not just your basic nylon slip that has crept down. Also, I think it's absolutely vital that the hem show evenly, again, so it looks deliberate.

I also would skip the slip showing with a work outfit. (The exception I would make is if you work in a super-creative field and the outfit clearly signals that you're being funky and off beat.)

Congrats on photos! YLF!
Fun outfits; a skirt and boots are great look for work, but I would skip the slip-peeking at work. The #1 dress and sandals are very pretty--an outfit with lighter colors is something you could do for social occasions.

I like #2. It's got a funky vibe. I'm not sure it makes sense in #1 because of the top and blazer. It's like the top half is formal and the bottom is sweet and summery. I'd maybe do a white sweater in #1.

I would never show any bit of underwear at work, ever.
No bra strap, no lacy camisole, no slip hem.
Unless you are in some really off-beat or creative field where anything goes and you see it modeled by your co-workers and supervisors.

Of course my work environment is more conservative for sure, but I would not advise it for a young woman in any of the usual workplaces. It's not a typical part of business casual or even casual workwear, and to me has more of a downside of not being taken seriously by both women and men with whom you might work.
To me it just has so many more ways to go wrong or to be misperceived than lots of other things one can do with one's outfit to be creative or individual.

Clearly I'm a fan of rather be safe than sorry, but I think that can be good as a young employee.

Well, if your boss is okay with it, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You'll just have to keep in mind that it's not everyone's look, and people do tend to express their opinions, whether asked or not (unfortunately).

If you like this look and it seems in line with your company policy, then enjoy it with great freedom and pleasure. I like Alaskagirl's link which is documented proof that others enjoy this, too. As for the naysayers, ignore their judgments and harsh opinions. Debbie Downers, perhaps.

In any case, it sounds like you might want to revisit the slip showing issue to preserve harmony in the office.

I very much agree with Gaylene. I love the look of visible underthings in a certain context, but that context is NOT work. IMO, it just isn't appropriate for a professional, and because some of your coworkers have made it clear that it is pushing boundaries too far, I would nix it at work. Again, I love the look for a weekend or a date night or almost anything except work, but I just think it lands outside the bounds of professional behavior in the office.

Ah, the question of when, where, and how to reveal one's underpinnings. A flash of a lacey bra, the hint of pretty camisole under a jacket, the deliberate reveal of a delicate slip--even as a senior woman , I adore it. BUT, there are always unwritten rules to be followed. What is pretty in the evening can look sloppy in the morning. What is feminine on a date can look tacky in the workplace. What works for one person can be a flop for another.

Your colleagues have given you mixed messages about your current styling--even if some of them were rather rude--so I I think you need to mull things over before continuing. If you are confident you can reset the unwritten fashion rules of your workplace without damaging your image or chances of promotion, then Ignore the naysayers. If you think your professional image might suffer by offering colleagues glimpses of your lingerie, then you might want to reserve the look for non-business wear where the glances will be admiring, not glowering.

Visible slip is very much like visible bra: it can look great as long as it looks intentional. Just like you might intentionally wear a pretty, lacy bra with a sheer or wide-necked top, or a top with giant armholes so the side bra shows, you might also purposely show the pretty, lacy hem of a slip. What you don't generally see is a nude, utilitarian bra showing -- so as long as your slip looks somewhat decorative, and enough of it is showing that it looks deliberate, I think you're all good. :-)

As Alaskagirl says, it has not not look like accidental slippage!

And I'm wondering how they know it's a slip and not part of your skirt or dress? I had a skirt that had a pretty lace border around the bottom hem.
