These are not the ones I have---mine may be available from out-date sites like Sierra! But they are kind of a cross between a casual slip-on shoe and a slipper.

Suz, here are some options that you might consider. I have been watching this thread since I, too, am looking to expand my options for what to wear to be comfy and cozy while working at home this winter. I also have problems with flats staying on my feet and I have the Daniel Green slippers in ivory and they stay on just fine. I also have the Skecher boots and they are super comfy.

I agree with you and the others -- you need something to bookend your hair like the Uggs did (so cute) . . .

I think I would be hesitant to keep the slippers, if you need an insole to make them work at all. I think I would want something that is truly comfortable and stays on my feet. I would keep looking.

Oh, Karen, I know the Uggs are not "cute" -- although they are cuter than the elf shoes, so everything is relative. But they're going back anyway since they don't stay on. Unfortunately, other cute flats will not stay on my feet, either -- and I need WARMTH in my climate on our floors. And so...

Donna, you are a temptress extraordinaire!!! I have to check it out. I have a Nordstrom note. ;)

Karie, the Octavias feel pretty TTS. I got them in a 7 which is the larger of my two sizes because that is all they had (at my Canadian site) and sure enough, they are a touch too big, which is normal for me. (I do better in Euro sizes).

I may wear them out occasionally, but not often. Flats are basically not comfortable or practical for me. I would freeze in them all winter outside, My feet need to work to "grip" them if I am to do any walking. I will more likely use them as Elizabeth says -- as a shoe I can bring to gatherings in other people's houses.

"Ugh." I have those Uggs and they are great quality and I wear them because they were a gift from my kids. They make a perfect am carpool shoe. However, I am much more the type to wear a stylish sleek smoking loafer around the house. I will do a little search and let you know if I find anything. Even a warm ballet type slipper might be cuter than the Ughs....IMO

Oh I love the Octavia loafers! Are you only going to wear them indoors? They are so fab, and they come in narrow widths! And guess who wears a narrow width? ME! Are they true to size or do they run big/small? I am between two sizes - usually an 8.5 in narrow widths and a 9 in regular widths. I might have to push the order button on these...

Okay, Gaylene, I hear you. But i am definitely keeping the clogs. Our floors are icy and I need to be lifted off. The rubbery sole of the clog is fabulous for reducing strain, too. I do see the packing value of those Glerups, though, for sure.

I'll grant you the boots are elf-like, but the shoes are quite sleek, especially in the darker shades (but the colors are so gorgeous!). Personally, once I tried a pair of Glerups, I tossed all my Halfingers and fleece-lined clogs. The felted wool keeps my feet warm and dry sans socks, the cowhide sole is grippy on hardwood and tile, I can stick in an insert if I'm standing at the kitchen counter for a long time, they pack easily in a corner of my suitcase, and the enclosed brochure even gives instructions for washing the suckers if they get grubby.

They might not work for you, or you might not like them, but I'd recommend slipping on a pair before you make your final decision as to a pair of house shoes...

I'm going to repeat my recommendation to check out Glerups, Suz. If the boot style doesn't enthuse you, and you tend to walk out of backless styles, check out the shoe style.
http://www.glerups.ca/womens-shoe/

A host of colors, the heavy leather sole is perfect for hardwood or tiled floors (and good enough for a quick trip outside to collect the mail, and the molded felt upper fits closely around the foot and ankle so the slipper never feels floppy or sloppy. Honestly, every one of my friends who have tried the Glerups have ended up buying a pair or putting a pair on their Christmas wish list.

This whole slipper business, and especially your red elf clogs, inspired me to pull out a pair of Roots black leather clogs that have been hiding in the cedar closet for YEARS. You know, from back when we actually wore clogs in public So now, I can't take the stupid things off they are so great for running in and out of the house, to the gym, etc. I am proudly sporting mine with a huge cozy pair of Roots marled socks over my gym tights like a good little Canadian.
I love those UGG slippers, but I know how expensive they are, and if they aren't perfect, I wouldn't spend the money. That colour is perfect for you though. And as for the studded smoking slippers - those are good things to have on hand. But, as others have said, if they don't work, they don't work. There are a million pair of shoes like this out there - you can find another that fits.

Dreaming of $600 cat flats.....

Oh, AV, I had those Via Spigas in my Finds. I wish I could try on Nordstrom shoes at home....so frustrating. I live in a town without a lot of shoe options.

I think the others might be a bit too flat for me. And yes, texstyle, carambola -- those look/ feel a bit too casual for me. Although I have in fact considered a lace up. And I like the idea of suede or nubuck.

Great thoughts all. I will continue to try out the smoking slippers and see how they do. I would not be doing much walking in them apart from stairs.

I'm not so sure I'd keep the slipper shoes Suz - I mean if they require an insole to be comfortable for indoor shoes, well, I don't know. The one pair I have that are similar are my Munro leopard print flats. I love they way they look and that prompted me to keep them, but I've only worn them twice *with* the insole addition so they wouldn't slip and truth be told, they just aren't comfortable enough for more than minor walking. My lifestyle is just too active, even when I'm indoors because I go up/down stairs all day, etc.

I am considering some deep taupe lace up booties - one pair I have tried and am "holding" linked in my Finds here. They are comfortable for a small heel and have a nice zipper option so you don't have to lace/unlace to take them on/off (a big plus to me). The other pair are on their way in the color "Stone" shown in my Finds in black.

Edit: of course these might be too casual or RATE for your style. So far I haven't found true booties in taupe/light tan that are comfortable enough and I've been searching for quite some time.

Thanks, all! Good idea, Joy, to put some Uggs soles in the slipper flats.

And Vivian, why did you have to show me those fantastic shoes????? Totally in love. That's the ur-house-shoe.

Thirkellgirl, the Uggs are surprisingly great. I really recommend them for anyone who wears flats easily. My feet falling out is just me, not the shoes. I have this problem with almost all flats.

I have not been growing my hair. I will never grow it out again. I will change up the style but it will be some kind of pixie until I die. That part of my style is now settled. Phew!!!

I really love the festive little shoes myself if you can get them to stay on!

If I had a spare $600, I would buy these Charlotte Olympia kitty shoes for work at home. They have a little heel, and the glasses make them serious, don't you think?

You look good in anything, including elf slippers. I really like the smoking slippers. You can get fleece insoles from Uggs and other places on- line. They might make the fit better. I have similar slippers like those Uggs from LLBean and they are also too big for low volume feet and stretch more on wearing. Let us know if you find anything warm that stays on.

Bummer about the Uggs, they look so cozy and... slipper like. :)
I have the same poison eye for the higher ones, worn as boots, here. What's with that?

I think you should wait on the slipper flats, if they slip off your feet. There are tons of them around these days, or at lest there were last year. I think you'll find perfect ones. I got some last winter, and they ARE awesome to have as a shoe to take with you when visiting others houses in winter. I got a lot of use out of mine this way.

Oh wow yhose Uggs look soooo cute!!! So sad they have to go back. The colour is fab and can bookend ur hair:)
But makes sense to send them back as they slip and to an extent are similar to merells.

I really like the idea of festive indoor shoes...

Nice logic!!!

I like them all, especially the Uggs, which surprise me. They look great and I think I'll have to reconsider them for myself. I confess that I mostly live in Merrell clogs like yours in the winter. They're just so darned comfortable and warm. I've had great luck with Aerosoles recently, and you might take a look at those. OT: hadn't you grown out your hair recently, or am I remembering someone else? I've been trying to let mine grow for months and am on the verge of pixie-ing again.
