I definitely do slips in the winter....maybe that is why I don't wear skirts so much in the winter...hmmmmm. Even with my lined skirts, dresses there is just so much static. In a pinch, I use hair spray ( though it is terrible for the clothing fibers ).

AJ - I love the idea of the longer pettipants. I have never seen them anywhere except the Vermont Country Store. The shorter ones, around here, are called "tap pants". And every once in a while, I wear a pair with a skirt in the summer for a little extra coverage if the skirt is a little see through in direct sunlight.

Though I gotta tell you, my husband would love those frilly ones....particularly in red ( I am blushing ). Thanks for the marriage help, AJ ! ; )

Maya and Angie, count me into your club- I've never had this problem. My slimmer skirts are all lined, and fuller ones just don't really cling on me. Perhaps because I'm more likely to wear that style in the summer, with bare legs.

Fi, I'm sort of with you on the slip thing, though- I love the idea of them and find them charming and alluring in a retro way! It's not like I'm going to get one just for fun, though!

This is so interesting, come to think of it I don't have a problem with my lined pencil skirt but my other cotton skirts or even sythentic skirts cling to my legs when I'm wearing tights. Go figure!

Years ago I lived in a dorm that was super staticky all the time and always had to wear a slip AND use static guard. I think it was because the heater was on constantly there and the whole place was so dry. My hair was a staticky mess the whole time too. I had to use static guard on my hairbrush!

They do not, AJ. I'm surprised to hear this is such a common issue because it never happens to me. I am trying to think of all my winter dresses and skirts and some of them are lined, so that would explain it, but even the unlined ones don't cling. I have no explanation though! Heavy denim doesn't seem like it would cling, so that might explain the pencil skirt...but other than that, beats me.

Maya, when you wear tights, your skirts don't cling to them ?

Here is the blog post I was talking about earlier. It's Audi from Fashion For Nerds. I did a quick search on her site for pettipants and I included the posts that came up. She has interesting color and item combinations so I thought you all might like a sampling of her posts if you haven't heard of her before:

Most of my dresses and skirts are unlined, so I always use a slip. I tried static guard and I found it didn't do much for me. I do need to invest in more slips though. Has anyone tried pettipants?
http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UT.....7pmojv7o_e
I know they are old fashioned looking, but I remember a blogger commenting that she had less static cling problems with tights using these. I'll see if I can find that post....

My ponte knit pencil skirt and denim pencil skirt are both not lined and I still don't have this problem. Maybe I have nice slippery thighs (something about that just sounded so gross and creepy all at the same time).

I'm like Maya. No slips and no static guard because I don't need to deal with static cling. I think that might be because I wear lined woven skirts and dresses as opposed to unlined knits.

A slip, although both might be a good idea sometimes. I have slips in three lengths from short enough for short dresses with leggings to knee length to full length. A "nude" color will go with everything but I like black ones too with the prettiest lace I can find.
