I must say I really like the slip-ons and they would be an excellent seasonal transition for shoes here in So. Cal. But, after seeing your new metallic beauties, also at a sales price, you did well! Love the forum wisdom and it really helps when you're on the fence.

Do you think you would wear them with short skirts and tights? I think that would be a cute look that could go for the colder months.

Thanks all.

I solved the problem, sort of, by listening to you all and forsaking the black slip-ons and -- instead -- ordering the JCrew silver loafers I have been stalking; they finally went on sale today, 25% off. If they work, I can wear them as the dressier fall flat with leggings and slouchy pants, and also with tights and skirts / dresses.

I do love my blue SEs and will very happy just wearing them out until booties take over.

I really appreciate the wisdom of the forum.

You already have a pair, right? I am with Angie here - I don't think you need another pair unless you are like wearing your existing pair every single day. I'm honestly not sure that this is a trend that has staying power.

if you think this is a style that you'd want to wear next spring/summer, i'd say order them. even if you only get a couple more weeks this summer, you'd have a pair of almost new sneaks for next year. but if you're feeling unsure about the longevity, pass.

I would wear them with black no-show socks and skinnies that go all the way way down. Nike makes a great plush no-show sock.

Not voting, but chiming in to say that all of the sock, sock-less and temperature issues have helped me focus on what wardrobe trends (or even durable "movements") are for what seasons and why, for me--so as not to buy for my imaginary lifestyle or climate or temp control.

For example, ankle pants--I have had some adventures with same and glad I did/am, but can clearly see these for me as "warm weather" pants, even if that goes into part of spring and fall.
Sure, I can see the fun in tweed ankle pants 'cause I love wool and tweed, but if it's that chilly I will regret not having my ankles covered. I already wear nude knee-highs (at work) and that would not be enough for chilly days.
OTOH, I can see that a pair of ankle pants I have in a fall-ish color can swing summer or fall based on the other colors in the outfit, and textures, so I can wear them on warm fall days, but not invest in true F/W weight.

I also face a new dilemma with skinnier pants because they need something like a loafer for the hem length, OR may need something like a slouchy mid-calf boot, something I've not used before, to tuck into (they're not true skinnies for fitting into fitted boots), OR I need to see them also as only warmer-weather items and clearly identify other pants, (slightly wider hems, mini-bootcut, or true trousers) that work with booties, as winter wear.

It does seem to get a little complicated, but lining things up this way helps me see what are appropriate for S/S vs. F/W purchases and why, which helps see what % of wardrobe should be allotted to said items.

OK Angie is technically correct but I am SO close to snapping up those shoes myself! I've been trying to decide between those ones and the perforated suede ones. But maybe we should listen to Angie's voice of reason.... Personally I'd have a hard time wearing them with socks. I'm not a big fan of the look.

Love the Cruz but I don't think I'll be able to wear the Cruz during cold weather without socks and the no-shows I bought sometimes slip even with that little glue dot on the heel. Unless you think these will work for your summer wardrobe, I'd hold off (and get a pair of lace ups?)

If you don't buy them, I will Can't you still get away with going sock less for at least another 6 weeks? At that price, new glossy black pair would be great way to ease into fall right now!

So, it's cold this morning. Really chilly, and no sun. It reminds me that fall is right around the corner, and while that makes me very very happy, it also raises a big footwear dilemma.

Does it make sense to buy another pair of slip-on sneakers to wear sock-less, given the time of year? I do think short sock can look cute with these sneakers, but with a dress or shorts, so there is a nice length of skin to break things up -- not with pants. (See pictures.)

The SEs below are $39 at Urban Outfitters. Should I, or shouldn't I?
