In the meantime, they went on sale so I got a price adjustment... and the Zappos pair also went on sale, so I got an adjustment for that pair, too.</p> <p>Guess what? I really appreciate the help!</p> <p>Yesterday I kept thinking about what I really wanted -- a slip-on athletic shoe like my Converse but without laces. I tried all the slip-on Converse/Vans styles and none fit. My Converse are the slimmer Jack Purcell version but I still couldn't get the laces tight enough, even with shorter laces. Then yesterday I googled replacing laces with elastic. BINGO! I just finished and love how they came out!</p> <p>I returned the white ones today. unfrumped noticed the gapping in the closeup shot, and that was one of the main things that was making me hesitate. I think an insole would've helped, but maybe not.</p> <p>I had planned to also return the snakeskin but they are from Zappos and require a trip to UPS, so I have more time to change my mind, LOL. I think they could be a good, fun&nbsp;alternative to my altered Converse.</p> <p>And, I bought some chinos today when I returned the shoes. I haven't worn this type of pant since What Not To Wear came on the scene and they said No More Light-Colored Pants!
