Hi Rachylou! Yes, it's a recent picture. My hair is longer than it's been in nearly 20 years, lol. It's taking me some getting used to. I'm going to buy some arch supports soon and will report back. I wear dresses and skirts a lot so would like to keep these shoes in rotation.

Hi Amy! Is that a new profile pic? I like your hair :)

I'm afraid I gave up on slings when I stopped wearing skirts as much. You have to report back if the arch supports work!

Good to see you Amy (I'm like Suz - slingbacks won't stay on my narrow heels)

I love slingbacks, but definitely need the arch support. I'm glad you figured out they the problem is.

I'm with Suz -- I can't keep them on, even though, unlike her, I have widish, high volume feet. I think there may be something to the pronation argument, however!

And slingbacks are such elegant, classic shoes!

Runs with Scissors, I think you've identified my problem. My right foot is prone to pronation. I'm going to try adding some arch supports to one pair of my slingbacks and see if that solves the problem.

Is your heel narrower on that foot perhaps?

I can't wear sling backs at all because they do not stay on my foot. No matter how many holes I put into the strap. Or whether they are elasticized or not.

And, nice to see you!!

I rarely wear slingbacks myself, so I haven't had this exact experience, but I am more likely to turn an ankle in heels because I roll to the outside of my heel.

Based on what I know from running, I wonder if you could be wearing your shoes unevenly due to pronation/supination. You could look at a shoe you wear a lot and see how the wear pattern compares:

http://www.dukehealth.org/repo.....attern.gif

For pronators, good arch support is recommended, and good cushioning for supinators. Again, I don't know how this translates from running to real world, but it's my first thought.

When I wear slingback shoes, my right heel often shifts so it doesn't sit squarely on the bottom of the shoe. My heel ends up sitting off to one side, which makes walking a bit of a challenge. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to fix it? I like my slingbacks because they're otherwise comfortable and they look good.
