Thanks Marley. I was surprised that she seemed surprised I thought it was day wear. It's good to know that I'm not Rip VanWinkle...

Hi Zibbets, Thanks for the warm welcome, and for the reassurance. I do have a chambray shirt, but I'm relieved to hear that you think a black sweater will work because I'm not sure I can tuck with this particular skirt. It's a bulky fabric and I bought a size larger than normal because it's pretty short and the bigger size sits lower on my body. I have yet to master the art of the semi-tuck, but that's a subject for another post. I'll be out most of the day tomorrow, but will attempt photos on Sunday.

Your ideas are great. I wouldn't be too concerned about the sparkles - totally OK for most work environments - but if you want to play up the bling factor for a holiday party, that would work too!

Welcome!

Your skirt sounds gorgeous. From my observations, I think daytime sparkle is on the upswing. Black sweater and tights sounds like a perfect way to wear your skirt to the office. Pictures would make it easier to come up with some other ideas.

Hi, I've mostly lurked, but I have a question: I bought a dark blue tweed boucle skirt (J Crew Factory) today. It was pretty much what I was looking for, but it has a silver metallic thread in it (which I was not looking for). The young woman at the cash register asked if I was buying it for an event, and then seemed surprised when I said I'd intended it for work. Did someone decide that daytime sparkle is no longer OK and I missed the memo? I'm 55 and was just starting to venture into the wonderful world of bling... Not that this is particularly blingy. I'm kinda clueless about this sort of thing though. What does the Fabulous Fashionista hivemind say? It's fairly short, and I was intending to wear it with black tights (Hi Suz -- team mostly tights here) and a black sweater. The salesperson suggested chambray. I'll post pictures tomorrow if it'll help, but I don't think the degree of sparkle will show in a photo anyway.
