Thanks for all the great recommendations everyone! I'm taking note of these because I'm always on the lookout for good lip products. I must be getting fussy or something, because I find that a lot of regular lipsticks are too drying or irritating (except my favourite Lancome, which is kind of pricey), some balms are too waxy/thick etc.

I was (still am) using the regular Burt's Bees lip balms (pomegranate, mango and honey), and then sometimes I'll apply lipstick on top. This softens the look of the lipstick, and almost acts like a primer/moisturizer. The tinted lip balm I bought is like a two-in-one deal.

In terms of similarity to the lipbalms - I have to say that the tinted lip balm seems slightly thinner in consistency than the regular balms. Feels like 'nothing' on, but the colour is soft and pretty, and I don't seem to need *two* products this way. Have a funny feeling I'll buy another one and/or try out some of the other great recommendations YLF'ers have mentioned in this thread.

Love the BB tints. I am a tinted lip balm addict for sure.
You might also look for the Terra Tint balms in health food/Whole Foods.
The Loreal balms work well for me, as do the Vincent Longo baby blams and Fresh tinted lip balms.

Ooh, I'm interested! I did not like the shimmer, even though I did love the moisturizing properties and the concept of tinted balm.

I was an avid Burts user until I tried Buddha Balm lip balm. A friend told me about their unique flavors and I had to give it a try. I am now in love with their Burnt Sugar Fig and I can buy them online directly from their website. Check them out http://www.buddhabalm.com

To put in another data point--I've tried the Revlon Lip Butter, Clinique Chubby Stick, and Clinique Almost Lipstick. The lip butter and chubby stick actively chapped my lips, which are not particularly dry but don't react well to being coated with foreign substances, apparently. The Almost Lipstick (a glossy sheer lipstick that the Sephora SA said was also moisturizing) is a little better but still drying if I don't layer with balm underneath.

I'm in love with the original Burt's Bees and wish it came in a tinted version with otherwise the same formula.

KL, they're definitely different from Burt's regular lip balm. I prefer the tinted balms. Somehow I find the original to be a little drying to my lips, possibly the heavy peppermint oil? I don't find that with the tinted balms. I think the texture may be less waxy as well.

I just tried L'Oreal's riche balm yesterday and I'm in love with it. It's another step closer to lip stick from balm. I think I tried tender mauve. Not a big fan of Revlon's offering, lip butter.

I like the Burts Bee's line and also one made by Neutrogena but my FAV soft color with lots of moisturizing (not really a balm, but I love it anyway) is the Clinique "Chubby Sticks" I got one in Mega Melon last week and absolutely adore it. Beautiful color and so soft and silky and it stays put a pretty long time. Here is what it looks like.

Yes, I think these are the perfect lip balms, too. I previously bought the Rose tint and just picked up the deeper Red Dahlia to try for fall and winter. I like both wearing the lip balm all by itself for the soft, natural color and lip conditioning, and keep it in my handbag because it's also really great to put on over an older lipstick application that needs some refreshing.

I got a really bad allergic reaction to the Pomegranate one; hadn't happened to me with any of the other Burt's Bees ones ... I'm not quite sure what the ingredient was (neither was my GP). Glad it works well for others though

I have to give these a try sometime, although they get mixed reviews online. I adore the original Burt's Bees lip balm (with peppermint oil, yum) and some people say that their tinted lip balm and lip shimmers don't moisturize as well. I really want a tinted lip balm that I don't have to layer Burt's Bees underneath... have tried several different products, both drugstore and department store, without much luck. If it's possible to break out from a "moisturizing" lip product--my lips end up more dry than if I were to wear nothing at all--then it's definitely happening.

Can anyone compare Burt's Bees' tinted lines with their original balm? I actually like the waxy feeling because it keeps my lips from chapping, and I love the tingliness.

Mo - is the cocoa colour you're after a lip balm, a lip 'shimmer' or one of their glosses?

I know what you mean, I'm starting to become a wee bit obsessed with Burt's Bees balms and now this new thing I picked up - the tinted lip balm. I use the regular lip balms (either honey or Pomegranate) every single day, and once in a rare while, I might put actual lipstick over top of it.

Ok, so I'm already addicted to Burt's Bees lip balms, particularly the Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate...

Stopped off at the local Walgreen's today - wanted a lip colour, but still 'balm-y'...lo and behold, I found this:

http://www.burtsbees.com/natur.....-balm.html

Can I just say that this stuff is to die for? Beautiful colour (I got Hibiscus), totally moisturizing, non-sticky - balm-y, but not waxy, and still with a hint of beautiful colour? Not a gloss, not a balm, not a lipstick, but somehow a combination of all three? Somehow manages to fill in any lines, dryness, shines a teensy bit, but non-glossy.

Moisturizes lips in a very soft, non-goopy way.

Just *fab*. This is one of those drugstore/grocery store products that is a real find, imo. I realize this is slightly off topic, but for $7 (tops), you can't possibly lose. Best new lip'stick' I've tried in eons.
