Thanks for all the suggestions. I am not sure about Ebay. I have had a look online at most of the costumes there didn't have any bids on them. Every kid in the class has the same costume, so there is no rarity value at all.
CS I knew you'd be in this situation too!

MarkK that sounds cute, though a little time consuming ( I love the thought of a mini-Mary being a Von Trapp child. As it happens I plan to watch the Sound of Music with my kids for their first time tonight. I have been trilling around the house trying to introduce them to the songs already!)

When I was in high school I played one of the Von Trapp children in "The Sound of Music." The girl who was in charge of costumes made each of us a little booklet with miniature versions of each costume made out of cut-outs from the fabric. Like paper dolls with two-dimensional clothing made out of fabric, if that makes sense. If you want a memento and don't mind cutting up the costumes, that might be something fun to do.

I'm in the same situation, Anne. Some old pieces we kept to wear for class, some we passed on to friends, most we ended up just donating. We still have old costumes because I haven't really found a good solution. My mom suggested a memory quilt made up of old costume fabrics, but those costume fabrics are not durable or comfortable.

How about Ebay? I be there are lots of parents in the same sitution who would be happy to buy your costumes at a lower price than buying new ones. Or could you contact a chidlren's theatre group who might like to buy them.

My older girls learnt dancing for a number of years and I have got quite a collection of their costures from concerts, most worn only a few times. Any ideas what to do with them?

I think it highly likely that we spend more per year on dancing costumes then we spent on the entire remainder of their wardrobe.
