If I want to layer in the heat, I'd wear a vest which is less material and shorter in length. When it's cold out, you'd have to wear a long jacket so the trench doesn't peek out. They are super stylish though! I don't think I could shell out $35 for a new trenchcoat to in turn go around and rip out the sleeves, but I can try thrifting one. Perhaps a shorter, peacoat length would be best.
