I'm so glad you posted this, Sihaya, I've wondered whether there are solutions for this myself and hate taking a jacket to the dry-cleaners after just one wear. If you try those disposable thingies, please let us know how they work!

Since we're talking about dry clean items, how about those in-home cleaning kits? You know, with the plastic bag and you put your clothes inside with a dryer-like sheet and tumble it in the dryer for a bit? I forget what it's called.

Not sure if you'd want to use it to replace dry cleaning, but maybe a quick dryer spin would freshen the items between wears a bit? I also use the airing out trick that Ana described.

I know you said you don't want to use antipersperant, but if you change your mind (again, there is no concrete evidence that it is dangerous to use these over the counter products), I have to say that "Certain Dri" is excellent. You can get it at your local drug store and put it on before going to bed. It stops 90% of underarm sweating, it's great!

not sure if it would work on dry clean only fabrics, but could you try febreze? apparently thats how one of my friends in the army cleaned his clothes in between washes. could be worth a try, i suppose.

Hmm...you could try turning your jackets inside out and letting them air out overnight. I usually wear my clothing a couple of times before I clean it. I will put the item on a hanger and hang it in my bedroom or someplace the cats can't get to it and shred it. I've tried leaving it in my closet, but it seems to take a lot longer to air out in there (probably because it's a closed in environment with no air flow).

Thanks - I should clarify that I"m actually quite happy with my deodorant but at the end of a 12 to 14 hour day, I can't help but have some underarm odor. So I'm more interested in how to live with the fact that I have the odor and accommodate wearing my jackets more than once, than trying to stop the smell.

Does anyone have experience with the product that Nicole posted? If not, I'll probably order some anyhow and see what they're like.

I should also add that there's not a lot of proof that antiperspirants are harmful. Sweat is not the primary way that our bodies get rid of toxins. Sweat is more about keeping your body cool than about purifying your system. But if you're really that concerned about it, at least it won't hurt you not to wear it. No offense, by the way.

Remember that they're are deodorants and then there are antiperspirants. Ideally deodorants absorb smells and kill bacteria. Most "deodorants" on the market do all three, but you can find natural "deodorants" that are not also antiperspirants. The problem with "natural" products is that they often don't work very well since the ingredients usually aren't very well tested, so shop carefully. I know a couple of people who swear by crystal deodorant. It's a clear hard rock in a deodorant stick shape that melts a little when you wet it. I'm not convinced that it actually works but it's an option. If nothing else you can always stick to good old talc or cornstarch with baking soda. It's not the most elegant or effective deodorant around, but at least it actually has an effect.

I have seen (but never used) little pads that you place on your clothing in the arm pit area. I just found this on the first google search:

Often when I wear a jacket (like a suit jacket) over a sleeveless top, I can only wear it one time before needing to dry clean it. This is because I accummulate the smell of sweat rather rapidly since the top is sleeveless. It's not that I sweat profusely and I use deodorant regularly. I definitely don't want to use anti-perspirant since I"ve heard a lot of down sides to things that prevent the sweat from leaving your body. I'm curious if anyone has any other suggestions or tips to combat this problem. I would like to wear a jacket 3 to 4 times before dry cleaning if possible. Thank you!
