Yes, ladies, I seem to be all about color this summer. I always want to be some refined, neutral goddess, but then I just go all crayola despite myself!

Mandipa -- love the Keds story. I danced my way through college in these shoes. I don't wear them with everything, as I did then, but I still occasionally go for the preppy, feminine crispness of them.

First, you look fantastic, in all of these --- no twee-dom in sight! Perfect balance too --- not too dressed up to play, not too dressed down to be taken seriously for work/teaching.

I actually rather like the knotted cardi for casual; though if you wanted to go more sedate, open and belted seems like a good option there -- for playtime, simply toss belt away, knot and away you go!

Second, absolutely taking notes from outfit #3, with the pretty shirt as summer jacket. It's given me a couple of ideas from my own closet.

Third, am beyond jealous that your Scholl's has such fab footwear! They look and sound perfect! And I love keds too --- though having worn them as school uniform for 12 years, I took an okra and stamped fabric-paint 'flowers' on the last pair as soon as I had my graduation certificate in hand!

Although I think the skirt loves you, my favorite outfit is #4. I really like the proportions and colors for you. I also really like #1 and #5. The layering and texture in #5 is fabulous.

Nice outfits.

Whew! I was feeling "bright," and "girly" this weekend, and everyone around me was in jeans and t-shirts. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't dressing like Amy Adams' character in "The Muppet Movie." Although, come to think of it, she looked kind of happy and fun. I keep learning, and tweaking.

You are lookin' good Beth Ann! I like Keds too! let's bring them back, shall we? I feel a little too much like a boy when I wear my Converse (even though all the 'cool' kids are wearing them).

I really love you in the *just below the knee* length skirts and capris. It's super flattering on you. I like the knotted sweater. It serves the same fashion purpose as a cropped cardi so I get why you are doing it. You look great with a defined waist and the tucking and belting look sharp in the last outfit. I'm doing a lot of belting on *top* of untucked shirts, partly because the shirts are too short to stay tucked in properly. You look neat and tidy without the short shirt problems I have!

Thanks for the feedback. I think, based on the pictures, the knotted cardi works better with skirts. I can button a couple of buttons and belt this one, but I don't like it styled open -- it lacks "structure." Of course, I have to wash it after I knot it to reshape!

Scarlet: I've been looking for bolder "beads," and I think you're right that they'd pick up on the graphic/color blocking vibe.

Jonesy: I'm still getting used to tucking myself. I do have plenty of shortish tops that can be worn out with this skirt, which is amazingly light and cool.

High five on the printed skirts! I really love the first two looks--casual and stylish (stylishly casual?). It's funny: Part of me really likes the knotted sweater, part of me doesn't :). Don't know what that means, exactly...I think the last outfit is cute but I wonder about a shorter top to show off the tucking detail on the skirt, vs. the layered tucked look? (but keep in mind that I do not usually bat for Team Tucked!)

These all look good to me and like you are doing a good job of balancing your dressing needs. I think 1 is good as is, but honestly I would love to see it with a not too long gumball-size beaded necklace in some bright color. I like the keds.

I like your solution to your dressing with skirts and cardis. You can still be mobile but look professional for teaching voice. I don't mind the keds with a capri. I don't like my Cons with a capri as I think they look odd and the ked is sleeker which might be a better option. I usually wear my Puma ballet sneakers with capris for park like activities.
I think the red sweater looks great tied and with layered necklaces.

I like all these looks. I think the delicate gold jewellery works best in 3 & 4 because the top you are wearing seems to frame it more. Love the way you've tied the cardi highlights your waist and is very slimming (must try that myself). Love the contrast in the last look between the blues & brown belt with pop of colour from the bag.

My favourite is the printbskirt in 3.

Well, the semester is over, and my days are full of MOTG and teaching voice at home. For the latter, I need to look put together -- not like "mom," and my days are "broken up" into a couple hours of teaching, a couple hours with the kids at the park, etc. So......I'm working on new remixes for spirng and summer! What should I do more of? Less of?

1/2 Graphic Saturday: I went on a print skirt binge last year, and all three of these skirts come from last year. I was experimenting with delicate gold jewelry. What do you think of the scale for me (I'm not delicate) and the layering? I'm a little concerned about looking too twee, here.
Skirt: JCP, last year
Tee: Target
Cardi: old, Maurices
Sandals: Old, B.O.C.
Jewelry: jeweled necklace, Old Navy, new -- Circle necklace is from Kohls, is gold over silver and is adjustable in length (woo hoo!)

3/4 Church to the Park: I wore the skirt and wedges to church and a casual Mother's Day lunch afterward. Then I changed tee and capri, and headed to the park. Now, I know Keds don't get much love on the forum, but they say summer to me. Not sure about the knotted cardi with the capris. Again, I want to look playful, but fully grown up and not too "cute."

Cardi: Target Merona
Tee: Target Merona
Skirt: JCP, last year
Wedges: Dr. Scholls, new and very comfy
Bag: picked up on clearance, playing with yellow, a color I can't wear near my face.

Printed tee: Loft Outlet
Capris: Target, Merona
Keds

5-7: Today, teaching at home, MOTG. I decided to try something a little more subdued togay! The closeup shows the eyelet detail of the top, the beads, and the stitched down pleats on the skirt -- which is a detail I love. I included the side view, because I think these cage sandals are more flattering from the side than the front -- they enhance the curve in the calf and, when you're legs are thin, this can be a good thing.

Shirt: Croft and Barrow, Kohls
White cami, old beads
Belt: old, like 20 years old
Skirt: Thrifted, JCrew
Sandals: Target -- last year
Bag: JCP
