I think any of those tops would work really well with a knee-length skirt. Just adding that little bit of length should make it more adult/sophisticated, so work appropriate.

I love the patient's comments When you don't know someone, the first clue you have is how they look, and your dressing up in a professional way says you care and are competent about things. (like you can master both medicine AND style ;-)

Good luck getting your preceptor to acknowledge anything except the practice, though. . .

I see feminine but not twee with those tops. Good for the patient speaking his/her mind and validating your style with your preceptor!

Love the patient one uppingthe boss :D

The whole idea that people look at our clothes first is one of the reasons I started to care about the way I dress.

Not really sensing twee in the tops, either. We will have to see them on you!

Smart patient! And I do think that clothes matter more as a first impression than many think.

Love all the tops you linked to and I don't see any "twee" among them.

That is such a funny story! It is probably very true to reality, too. I am sure people notice our clothing before our smiles, as a rule. Interesting.

I think those tops would work with your style for sure.

Yes thats funny. I Love the first three. they are rather cutesy but just under knee length is quite sophisticated and would go well with these.

LOVE your patient's one upping the boss's diss! Ha!
FWIW, I don't see these tops as twee. More sexy secretary if anything. I know at 20 something I would have found them too matronly for my style, for sure. I think you could rock them.

I am going to wager that if my skirts are longer, and more "serious" that way; I can balance them with a more "twee" top - and still be able to get away with it! Tee hee!

I have been staring at these tops for a long time, but I was afraid with a shorter skirt they would be to twee-twee for me to wear to work, even under a blazer.

I have been seriously addicted to blazers in the last little bit - what did I ever do without them adding beautiful structure to my outfits?

****

One of my patients said to me today, "Thank you for dressing nicely. Young people never do that anymore."

I thanked her, and my preceptor said (she's really against the way I dress for some reason), "It's probably more important to have a good attitude and a nice smile though, right?"

Patient: "No. I noticed her pretty skirt first, then her pretty smile."

:) Tee hee.

****

ETA: Found an old store credit! This is why you never throw away all your receipts! I think I'm going to try 4/5 and 6/7 as a mail order (none in store) and try to hunt down the pretty coral colour (8) if I can find it in store - One of my friends has a really beautiful chambray shirt, and I want to try one out!
