If there's an actual fold of fabric forming when you're standing, as opposed to just a bit of a crease, I think I'd go up a size or choose a different skirt. I get this sometimes in skirts because I've got a tilted waist, and the front waist of the skirt rides lower at the waist than the designers intended. I can pull up the front waistband higher on my torso temporarily, but it always ends up back at my natural waist as I move anyway.

I get wrinkling in skirts and pants regardless of how oversized they are. I figure it has to do with the way my hips are configured. I only think it is an issue if you get the wrinkling while standing which indicates that the fabric is pulling across the front to accommodate the backside - similar to the wrinkling that can happen on button shirts that look like they fit from the front but pull across the back.

Hmm, I think I get a crease in any skirt that has a thick or stiff fabric. A-line or pencil. Test it out and see if that happens to you? My skirts aren't too tight, I'm sure of that.

I think that I have noticed this before on myself and others. I usually see it as a crease, like wrinkling from sitting down and then standing up. I have always figured this was an acceptable part of wearing a pencil skirt. Although I have also tried on some skirts that have more of a pulling tight with lines across the hips, just under my tummy, where it definitely looks too tight. But to my eye, creasing and pulling/stretching are two different scenarios.

When I wear pencil skirts, I tend to have a crease across my hips. The crease only disappears if I squeeze my hips and push them forward, but otherwise it's there. I notice that on J. Crew and other sites, the models also have this crease across the front. Is this a socially acceptable crease or does it suggest to the onlooker that the garment is too small?
