@Cocolion, LOVE those wedge booties! Will keep my eye out for some of those!

I went shopping for shoes today and didn't find even one pair that I like! I have small feet (size 5.5) that are also narrow and fussy, so it's not easy to find shoes. Booties like that would probably be very comfy for me...

Based on the last photo, I think you are an hour glass. I like the jeans with the boots. We are the same height in theory but I agree you look taller than that in the pictures.

I agree with others: you look taller than you are. You are very slender, which helps. I think, on you, the dark skinnies tucked into flat dark boots works and isn't leg-stumpifying. (Maybe a more straight-on picture would help us see, though).

I'm 5'1", and I wear skinnies all the time with flat shoes. Flat knee boots are best (for some reason a break at the knee seems natural and doesn't cause leg-shortening effects), although I'll do low-top Converse sometimes. I imagine ballet flats would be fine, too, although I don't wear them. Whether flats work with skinnies mostly has to do with the length and shape of your legs. The length and shape of your top will matter too.

I will admit that my legs look far longer when I wear my skinnies with heels, but then, my legs look far longer with heels under any circumstance!

ETA: sometimes I don't care about figure flattery and will wear something that I KNOW is leg-shortening just because I like it. For example, I like the look of skinnies rolled up just enough to show off my ankle bones, and I'll do it sometimes even though my legs look longer when the jeans are unrolled. What I'm saying is that figure flattery doesn't always have to be the number one priority.

You have a super figure! And look much taller than 5'1". As Una (Alaskagirl) says, it's a bit tough to judge your body type from photos with non gym type clothing but from the barefoot pic I suspect you are a slim hourglass with very slight pear tendencies.

And you look FANTASTIC in your skinnies and boots! And will look good in them with any kind of shoes, but CocoLion's suggestions might be especially pertinent.

Also, you might want to consider proportions as well as body type. I am about 5'4" and my measurements are very similar to yours. But unlike Modgrl, I don't like myself in long tops with skinnies. She has relatively long legs proportionately; mine are relatively short...so for me, long tops shorten the leg line, something I want to avoid.

Okay, here are some pics of the jeans in question, worn with flat boots (my only suitable boots for tucking in skinny jeans) and barefoot (I don't own any flats that are fit to be worn in public at the moment, because I hardly ever wear flats...oh yeah, and my hair is wet). Please disregard the rest of the outfit, I'm being ultra-casual today while I go look for some shoes to wear with these jeans! Anyway, here's pics:

With boots (front): http://i1261.photobucket.com/a.....G_0120.jpg

With boots (side): http://i1261.photobucket.com/a.....G_0122.jpg

With boots (back): http://i1261.photobucket.com/a.....G_0124.jpg

Barefoot: http://i1261.photobucket.com/a.....G_0126.jpg

So....what's my body type? And I'm still taking more shoe suggestions...

Don't feel too slow -- I also just finally bought my FIRST pair. I have been a leggings person forever, because they work for Yoga or Pilates class days. Our weather has not been really cold at all -- we just had an OVERNIGHT snowfall which melted away by midmorning and I LIKE SNOW! Still, I have liked my dark wash denim skinnies worn with a pair of gray suede boots. I guess, really, I don't mind much if I look short -- since I AM short, and I'm fine with that.

I love the look of flats or ballet flats with skinny jeans, I just don't have a pair I really, really like, and haven't yet found one out there. I am very picky about footwear, I guess!

Thanks for the ideas! I do like the idea of ballet flats, but somehow I always feel they don't look right on me (maybe because, until now, all my jeans have been boot cut and all but one pair are hemmed for heels, not flats). I am honestly not even sure if my hips are more straight or more pear. I think I'm a pear, but friends and people at work always tell me I'm skinny, so I will post a cell phone pic later and you guys can tell me the truth!

On me, I don't agree any shoe works with skinnies. (I am 5'3.5") It depends on your hip and leg shape. If you have straight legs, then you can get away with flats and flat sandals. If you have a pear shape like me, I find wearing shoes of the same color as the pants makes a big difference. I like shoes that are easy to cover with skinny jeans. In other words, if the ankle is to wide, you have to tuck the jeans into the shoes and that is going to be leg shortening.

Your wedges sound the most promising to me. I wear mine in 60 degree weather, easily. Just wear thin socks. I am posting pictures with two different kind of shoes that I have found work.

1 -- Booties w/ 1.75 Inch heel. The long, unadorned front (no buckles etc) gives an uninterrupted line with the matching colored pants. I have these booties in black and brown, I LOVE them, very comfortable every day shoes. Here's the link:
http://www.onlineshoes.com/wom.....p_id244512
I reviewed the shoes and you can see more pictures in the review.

2. Booties w/ 3" heel. These are DV wedge booties with laces. You can find a lot of shoes out there like this. Here I am going with a contrasting color shoe with the pants but it works I think because they are both dark and the shoes have a higher heel.

I have yet to buy skinnies but am looking for them myself. Sounds like they can be worn with almost any kind of shoe and if you are petite like Shannon and keep the contrast low (for pant and shoe) you shouldn't look too short. Will be anticipating seeing the pics you post!!

For warmer weather, I love the look of skinnies with flats of any sort. In fact, I just bought my first skinnies as well and I'm only 5 feet tall. I will be rocking them with flats once we're out of the deep freeze. For now I wear them tucked into boots. I think it works despite my short legs as long as I keep the colour contrast low between the skinnies and the boots.

In mild weather, I think that skinnies look great with ballet flats, converse tennies, and low heeled shoes or shooties. If you're into heels, you can wear them with pumps. In cooler weather, tucked into boots or ankle boots (depending on the contrast) or scrunched over booties should work well. I guess that means all shoes work!

The ppl rules are different for slim tapered pants. You can wear skinnies with any kind of shoe. I am shorter than you and wear them with flats, wedges, boots, booties... No limits. Just keep your top long. tunic length is best to balance out the proportions. I dont tuck into skinnies. It isn't impossible but it's a tough trick to pull off.

Okay, so I am very late to the party on this one but I just bought my first (yes, first) pair of skinny jeans (black, if it matters). Here's my problem: I don't know what kind of shoes to wear with them. Tucking into boots is not really practical with the weather we've been having (sunny and mid-sixties) and, being short, I'm wary of cutting off my leg line. I do have a pair of black suede wedges that I THINK look alright, but I think even with heels they make me look shorter than my bootcut jeans do (I'm under 5'1" tall). Any advice as to what kind of shoes I should get to wear with these? Sorry I can't post a pic...my camera died tonight! Might be able to add a pic tomorrow.

ETA: just realized I posted this in the "body type" forum. Well, if it matters, and I guess it actually probably does, my measurements are something like 31-25-34.
