I stopped wearing foundation when I couldn’t find any that didn’t turn chalky or orange. I have fair skin and red hair, but have both blue and green veins. Concealer is especially tricky because my under eye circles vary in color, too. I have had luck with ByeBye undereye-it’s waterproof and great for watery winter eyes, but may be too much for summer. I am a brunette with green eyes, light skin tone and "blue veins" - the winter colourings are overpowering on me whereas the softly toned summer colourings seems to be a better fit. I'm using the below colour palette as a reference, though I narrowed it down to cream, navy, charcoal and some blues. I am definitely no expert, but I tend to think of summers as being low contrast (similar shade skin and hair) rather than high contrast, and suiting soft, cool colours. Some colours that I associate with a summer palette (blush, rose, taupe) do not look very good on me while others (pale blues and sage greens and certain whites) look good, although I wouldn't want to build my whole wardrobe around them. Darker, shaded colours are usually easier for me to wear and style than lighter ones. Probably the hardest colours of all for me to wear are clear, bright, saturated ones like watermelon, sour apple, and cobalt/royal blue. Like others, my daily routine is very very simple: SPF (sometimes tinted, sometimes not -- depends how sweaty I think I'll get); a brow booster/tamer; low-key lip colour and concealer for under eyes and tip of nose *if* I'm not going into town. I skip the last two steps if I'll be wearing a mask since it all just rubs off anyway. Staring at my face for an hour or two on Zoom most days has definitely helped me dial in what I want out of my makeup. It's important to me that nothing about my appearance be distracting, especially since I work with children. The content of these online classes is much less important than just seeing familiar faces, so I try hard to look like myself, freckles and all (do other freckle-y people find the blur filters on phone cameras really unnerving? I feel so weird when I turn mine on!).</p> <p>Kosas lipsticks can be a little intimidating at first because it's such a small palette. Most of the shades are really versatile and buildable. For folks who need a cool pink, the Rosewater shade is really pretty. I love the darker pink of Undone and wore it almost every day through the winter; my winter clothes skew dark and a darker lip is fine, and it's a great day-to-night shade. It took me until mid-May, and the thing I ran out of was concealer. I've been using the same Mineral Fusion concealer duo for a long time and wanted to try something new, and had my eye on the new <a rel="nofollow" href="https://kosas.com/products/revealer-concealer-tone-04">concealer from Kosas</a>, one of my favorite clean beauty brands. I also decided to order <a rel="nofollow" href="https://kosas.com/products/stardust-lipstick">a new lip color</a> because I used up my only light/nude/MLBB shade over the winter. I still have some reds and darker mauve-y colors but they feel like too much in warmer weather. </p> <p>My first order -- concealer in shade 3.5 and lipstick in "Vegas" -- was a bust. Both formulas were too light for me, and had that chalky sitting-on-top-of-my-skin effect. I contacted Kosas customer service and they graciously sent me replacements right away. I went with shade 4 for concealer and "Stardust" for a lip color (warm sheer pink), and the replacements arrived within a week completely free of charge. Both colors are <b>perfect</b> and natural-looking on me. Having a fair complexion, blue eyes, and dark hair, it's tempting to self-diagnose as cool/winter, but the more I play around with makeup, the more I realize my undertones are definitely tan/olive, however light; cool-toned cosmetics, and even some "neutral" formulations don't really suit me at all, especially during the sunny half of the year. It took me years of wondering why most red lipsticks turn pink on me to figure this out.  </p> <p>I'm almost out of facial cleanser now, so I finally placed an order for the Ordinary's <a rel="nofollow" href="https://theordinary.deciem.com/product/rdn-squalane-cleanser-50ml?redir=1">Squalane Cleanser</a>, which has been on my wishlist for a while.
