Thanks for the ideas everyone! I think I will bring lots of options. The weather should be fabulous. The mountain just got fresh snow but temps. should be in the 40s at the bottom of the mountain. I"m psyched!

My ski pants are pretty warm so I actually wear thicker tights under mine! If it's really cold, I'll layer a thermal/performance long john type of thing on top of the tights. Otherwise, it's the same as what Angie has said - thermal top, thin fleece top, ski jacket etc. My favorite underlayers are the silk ones, although I think there are so many great ones on the market now that wick away moisture from your body. The socks are really important too - you want them to be warm but not too thick!

Don't forget your helmet (if you don't own one you can usually rent from the mountain)! They're actually really comfortable and it's nice not to have to worry about getting a concussion, plus if it's cold they are really helpful at keeping your head warm (with a hat underneath). Make sure that you have warm mitts and socks, it's always my hands and feet that get cold first! Have fun!

I don't ski, but I snowboard. Don't forget you'll be on your butt at times, so if you can beg or borrow ski pants it'll be a big help. Obviously you want the top layer to be waterproof/resistant, so no jeans, fleece gloves, etc..

Unless it's very cold you probably don't need quite as much as you think, maybe long underwear, a thin wool/cotton sweater and a waterproof/resistant shell and pants. Good waterproof gloves are important too.

I think after skiing/snowboarding is one of the few times Uggs look fine in public. :D

Have fun!!

Mellllls, it really depends in what temperatures you ski in. Spring skiing is sooooooooo much warmer than Winter skiing. Ski attire is totally hip and cool too! You need thermal inners (top and bottom), ski pants, polar fleece top and ski jacket. The best socks, breathable underwear, ski gloves, scarf, hat and fab goggles.

Apres ski stuff is essential too.

Does that make sense?

Realizing that skiing is an activity where it is appropriate to wear gear, I am wondering what people wear when they ski. I haven't skied in 14 years so I can't remember what I generally wear. I want to be warm but not too bundled up that I can't move! Thanks!
