If it's really cold, I'll layer a thermal/performance long john type of thing on top of the tights. Otherwise, it's the same as what Angie has said - thermal top, thin fleece top, ski jacket etc. My favorite underlayers are the silk ones, although I think there are so many great ones on the market now that wick away moisture from your body. They're actually really comfortable and it's nice not to have to worry about getting a concussion, plus if it's cold they are really helpful at keeping your head warm (with a hat underneath). Make sure that you have warm mitts and socks, it's always my hands and feet that get cold first! Don't forget you'll be on your butt at times, so if you can beg or borrow ski pants it'll be a big help. Obviously you want the top layer to be waterproof/resistant, so no jeans, fleece gloves, etc.. </p> <p>Unless it's very cold you probably don't need quite as much as you think, maybe long underwear, a thin wool/cotton sweater and a waterproof/resistant shell and pants. Spring skiing is sooooooooo much warmer than Winter skiing. Ski attire is totally hip and cool too! You need thermal inners (top and bottom), ski pants, polar fleece top and ski jacket.
