With ankle pants I would wear nude knee highs or very thin hidden sock.

Are you going to wear socks? I bought the Ecco Soft 8 hightop in a 37 (6-6.5) and I am a pretty solid 6.5 if a shoe is wide enough. I remember the Ecco 7 high top fitting in the same size. I wear with thin smart wool socks. But it may be that sizing is more generous at different parts of the range.

Thank you! I will go ahead with just the 40, which should be the most likely.

I have these shoes. In Ecco I always need 41 / 10 instead of my usual 9.5. That's to get the arch to hit in the right place. I have low volume, slightly narrow feet with high arches and long toes. A lightweight sock takes up the extra volume. Also terry cloth inserts, which I prefer to socks.

I have these shoes. I am consistently an 8 (and my feet aren't wide or narrow) and the 8-8.5 fits me perfectly.

I got the 39 (8-8.5) and those are the sizes I run between. I also like a little extra room and I think these fit great, so I'd say true to size, not huge. Seems for you I'd order the 40.

I bought my first pair of Ecco shoes yesterday - not these but a pair of slip on sneakers. I usually wear 9.5. In the 9-9.5 my toe was right up to the front of the shoe. The 10-10.5 was the perfect length. My feet are on the narrow side of medium and low volume. The width is fine for me. I just came back from a one hour walk and have no complaints. There was no rubbing on my little toe ( that happens with Converse) and no bumping of my big toe on the front of the shoe. If I were getting a sandal in Ecco I would take the 9-9.5 but going up a size in the sneaker was the right choice for me. Hope this helps.

I'd like to try these but have being going bust on shoe tries for fit. I am wearing a 9 pretty consistently now instead of 8.5 and need toebox room, but these are sized overlapping- I'm guessing order the 9- 9.5, because I'm never wearing an 8, unless they run HUGE? Yes, I can order both sizes but it's a pain.
Thanks for any size hints.
