Thanks for the very detailed information that you provided, Diana. I am still going through the reviews from the links that you provided. The purple Dorith ones look like leather to me, not patent. I tried on an old pair of Naot Gizeh-like in 39 that my daughter has and the footbed is fine, so maybe we will be shoe twins... I love purple, too. The sandals on the right of the Doriths do look wider but I am not sure the thin strap will be comfortable on the toes.

Lisap, thanks for chiming in, too. It looks like all three of us are 7.5 shoe size! The sizing info for Naots is very helpful. I agree about being nervous about not trying them on first. I am hoping they will work out. Otherwise there is DD or maybe another fabber or Ebay...

I also wear a 7.5/8 in a shoe yet take a 39 in Naot . My Birks are also 39's but the footbeds are completely different between them. I'd be nervous not being able to try them on as I personally find comfort shoe fits are very specific and particular - as they should be!

I have the ones on the left of the first picture (in teal patent.) They are called Dorith and the collection is Elegant Flats. It's a narrow to medium width. See the Zappos info below; the reviews will probably be helpful too. The suede and metallic leathers that Naot uses stretch more than their patent, and I think the regular leather is somewhere in between. The danger is if the footbed is too narrow, though, because the edges are slightly raised and it will hurt if your foot overhangs.

The bottom pair in the second pic is very similar to my Ashleys, and they also run narrow to medium. Again, the upper will stretch (and they have some elastic too) but the footbed needs to be the right size. I've linked the Ashleys in finds below so you can read the reviews.

I don't know what the other two pairs in your pics are, but they both look to be a wider profile. Naot does make different collections that are wider - I just don't know much about them because they don't work for me.

I hope they work for you. They are by far the most comfortable sandals I own. I really like the purple color! I have not seen it on any US retailers yet.

Thanks, Diana. We have the same shoe size so I will go with the 39.
I hope they are not too narrow but if they are leather they will stretch.
I don't know the names of the models but I will show you the picts below.
I am thinking of the u-shaped stap ones on the left first pict and the shiny purple Arizonaesque ones on the bottom second pict.

I don't know about birks but I do own 6 pairs of Naots. Their sizing is a bit different than other European sizing. I find the conversions on zappos accurate. I normally wear a us 7.5/euro 38, sometimes 8/38.5; however, in Naots, I am always a 39. They say this is equivalent to us 8 (in other brands a 39 is usually a 9). Width depends on the particular "family" but in my experience the length is really consistent. The ones I like (Ashley, from the Elegant family) run narrow. For the cork styles you do NOT want to go too small as it's very uncomfortable if your foot overhangs the edge at all.

Which styles are you looking at?

I have the "opportunity" to have some very pretty Naot sandals brought over to me from overseas but the decision will be a final one so I need to sort out the sizing. I know things vary with the style as well but it seems to me that Naot sizing is smaller than Birkenstock sizing. Should I go up a size? I think they carry full sizes only.
Would a full size up in Naot feel like boats instead of shoes? I know a full size up on Birkenstocks would but maybe it would work out for Naots since they seem to run smaller?
What do you ladies say? Do you know how they compare?
