Sizing is absolutely arbitrary! A size label is just a starting point and that’s all. We always focus on the fit and not the size and it sounds like you did just that Khris. I wrote a blog post too, but I actually defended the retail industry FOR US. It goes without saying that there is nothing wrong with our bodies. Food for thought:

We know it isn't just us - crazy sizing and variations in manufactoring.
Imogen had a great blog post once on how women blame their bodies (I must be too fat, etc. ) when really garment makers/sellers are the root of the fit issues.
I feel your pain!

This is the problem I often have with shopping. I think that I know what sizes I wear, but then I try a new brand and nothing fits right. It can get very frustrating.

I'm on a shopping ban still (I didn't purchase anything), but dh and I had half an hour to kill before a movie so we took a stroll through Gottschalks since they have everything at least half off now. I tok some things into the dressing room to try on. A pair of jeans in size 16 fit pretty well. A pair of jeans in size 12 fit pretty well. A pair of stretch clams in size 14 was so small that I couldn't get it up over my thighs. A knit top in a large fit well. A tailored denim jacket in large was too big, and a hoodie in medium fit well. I'm glad that differnt manufactureres cut their clothes to different body shapes, but the randomness of sizing is sometimes absurd.
