You see, I wasn't making things up just to justify a S&K coat...

It's very, VERY hard to find warm enough wool coats right now if you live in a cold climate.

I was also looking at that Miss Sixty coat, but as you say, too thin and also too short (I like my coats to end just below the knee). Almost ALL the coats had a wool content of less than 70%. I don't know if this is a recession thing or what, but it made me VERY frustrated. I cannot stand the idea of yet another season in a too small coat, so I just bit the bullet and made an investment just because I can--but I realize most people don't have that option (I won't either pretty soon). In other words, I was just plain lucky, but it was still a last resort.

Guess and Miss Sixty make very cute coats but they definitely are fashion over function.

Update on the Miss Sixty Coat: I made a trip to the Burlington Coat Factory, where true to Maya's word, I was able to try on three different Miss Sixty Coats. If I were to purchase any of them, I would go with small, so I think they run TTS in junior sizing.
(Un)fortunately, I was also able to observe the material in real life and was very disappointed. The wool is very thin. I don't think any of those coats would provide sufficient warmth in the Northeast winter. This is the coat I was initially considering and from the pictures it looks very similar to the ones I tried in store:
http://www.amazon.com/Miss-Six.....038;sr=8-5
I also tried on a few Steve Madden, Guess and Tommy Hilfiger coats including these:
http://www.macys.com/catalog/p.....41-_-MP441
http://www.victoriassecret.com.....-KG-262011
http://www.victoriassecret.com.....-KG-260633
While they were all very pretty, they all suffered from the same problem: thin, stiff wool with no insulation. I have to say, I now have a better appreciation of Maya's coat dilemma.
For my part, I decided to stick with my current coat:
http://blog.buffalostate.edu/f.....019.98.jpg
I would actually call it more of a jacket, but compared to the ones I saw at Burlington Coat Factory, mine is equally warm if not warmer. Besides, we will be getting snow in about a week and then I can start wearing my puffer coat (and probably not take it off until March! )

I think they run ever so slightly small but it depends on the specific style. Still, the very narrow cut in the shoulders has been consistent across styles in my experience and I rarely if ever have problems in that area.

I tried one on at a TJ Maxx. I loved how the shoulders fit in the XS (I usually have trouble with coats being too big in the shoulders), however it was too tight on the bust (I'm about a 32D/34C). It would have worked if I'd had a button moved slightly, though; I just didn't need a coat enough to go through all that.

Bella, I found a bunch at Burlington Coat Factory. Nordstrom and Lord and Taylor also carry them. Macy's is hit or miss. Some stores have them, others don't.

Depends on the style. For example, I tried on two different styles of peacoats. One I fit M, the other S. In general, though, I think they run on the small side.

A few people have said they run small but I found them TTS. I think they are only snug if you have broad shoulders.

SMALL! I had to return one that was much too tight on my shoulders and in the chest. I think you should see if you can find a store where you can try them on and see as there also seems to be some variation depending on style.

I am contemplating asking for a Miss Sixty Coat for my birthday. How do their sizes run? Any experience with Miss Sixty?
Thank you!
