Euro size conversion is super funky. I'm a size 5/5.5 US and normally a true 35 Euro (so they appear to run large for small sizes and run small for large sizes). Nordies converts 35 to size 4.5 usually; I really hope they don't stop stocking 35's!

Maybe in the next few years things will change. Nearly all the daughters of friends have size 10 and larger feet. Girls seem to be taller with bigger feet on average.

I want to add that I think the conversion between US and European sizes doesn't seem right. I am normally a 10 but I wear a 42 in Birkenstock and Naot, which would be considered an 11.

That's frustrating, but I'm not surprised. When I popped into the NYC Miu Miu store, their selection of size 40+ shoes was extremely limited.

Sorry you're experiencing this too familiar frustration. I've also noticed that the 10s get snapped up quickly. My son's generation has big feet and manufacturers haven't moved their bell curve upwards so they make more in larger sizes.

I'd also like to know why there are very few 10.5. Sometimes I think that's what I might really wear. But since it's usually not available I just don't get whatever shoe.

What's weird is that ladies' size 10 (which is a size 40, right?) isn't even really that big. I know quite a few women with that size. But I totally sympathize -- it's frustrating to be sized out. Sometime I'm sized out at the opposite end of the spectrum for shoes. I'm a 5.5, but if the brand tends to run big, sometimes even the smallest size doesn't fit.

That is a bummer. At least you know that Miu Miu makes them in a bigger size, even if you can't get your hands on it. When looking for myself, I've found several small British and European shoe lines that don't even manufacture above a size 40 or 41. Which seems weird to me, because people are still getting taller and bigger every generation, right? And a ladies size 10 is not that huge, really.

Thank goodness for the Internet, though. I had a friend growing up who I believe was a size 12 like El Cee. The only place she could find shoes that fit her was at Kmart.

Gee -- that is too bad. They are cool shoes. Hope you can find a similar alternative. I can empathize as I am a size 12 and am "sized out" of most everything that is trendy.

So last night I was downtown looking for pale pink lipstick for a masquerade event I'm attending tonight.
I detoured through Nordies shoes. Saw these really cool Miu Miu ballet flats, they just got them, not even on their website. They have two sets of lace up ribbons, one black, one gingham. Find is from Saks.
I'm normally a 40 in Miu Miu and they normally fit me well.
The 40 was too small, my toes were hitting the end. The salesperson and I decided it was the snub toed shoe design. He looked at the company wide inventory. They did not order a 40.5 or 41. I was disappointed, especially since Nordies has these periodic special events for difficult sizes, 12 and up, under 5. He said they have reduced ordering under 5 sizes.
Net-a-porter has the satin version, but basically the only option is to order it from Miu Miu directly, which is too much trouble.
