Amy - Think the larger fit is still great and has so much potential for styling. I vote keep. But then again, I would love to see your DIY attempt.

I've only found 2 button down tops in my life that don't have gape when I wear them (I'm busty and only if there are lots of closely spaced buttons is there no gape). I find AT and LOFT do not accommodate much of any bust and I always size up on tops, but as you find then the rest is not so great a fit. I used to safety pin at my own peril, but have found fashion tape and it's changed my life.

Thanks, everyone.

Refugee, I really appreciate your suggestion. At least with me, don't hold back when you have an idea that might help. It's helpful to have an objective view about these things, because I just can't develop the necessary distance to evaluate some things well.

As for the bra issue, I'm happy with the size I'm wearing. The pattern block the shirt is drafted on was created for someone with a smaller cup size than I have. We busty ladies often can't find non-gaping tops that fit right in the shoulders. *sigh*

I'm on the fence about this Ann Taylor blouse. I love the color, but the fit is meh...so if I can find similar fabric I may take the DIY route. We'll see.

Hubs is right. The smaller size is a little too snug. Thanks for trying though, Amy.

Go with the larger size. Still looks KILLER.

great color and I agree with Ana but choice is to go with the larger size and wear it tucked in as shown. But you can also look just a little more and find another blouse in right color and right fit. At least, I see that advice in other blogs...buy the perfect one, not a frustrating alternative.

I think both Angie and your husband are right. The larger size is too big (Angie is right). The smaller size is gaping (your husband is right). And FWIW I really hate button downs that gape even a little bit.
And here is where I get all up in your business. I think the problem is with your bra. Have you had a bra fitting? I think the right bra would make a big difference in the way this blouse fits. I think that suggesting to someone that they need a bra fitting is a super personal suggestion. But I know, from personal experience, that it can make a huge difference in how things fit. I am only suggesting this because I think it might make a big difference for you.

Amy, I love your little caption on your picture! Too funny!

As someone who frequently has bust-gaping problems, I have occasionally just sewn closed the front of a blouse if the neckline is big enough that I can slip it on over my head. Then there are no more worries! Would that work with this one?

I'd go with the larger size. Any way you can alter it yourself to make it perfect?

Like, Ana, I think it looks great in picture #4. So many possibilities with jackets, belts, cardigans, etc. And kudos to your husband for his gentle honesty.

It looks like the smaller size fits your shoulders a little better, but overall I like the larger size better. I think it's meant to be kind of a soft, slouchy fit anyway. I like it tucked in best, but it might look okay with a jacket over it or belted around the waist too.

Angie suggested that I try on a smaller size of this blouse.

I bought the smaller size and modeled it for my husband. He pointed out that anyone sitting next to me at a meeting might have trouble concentrating due to bust gaping.

Can't have that. So, that rules the smaller size out. (See pictures 1 & 2)

My question is: is the larger size too roomy or is it ok looking? (See pictures 3 & 4)

I like the color a lot, but don't want that to distract from a proper fitting top.
