I have slim hips, but a curvy bum. Ok, I don't think it's worth fussing over. Thanks anyway for the input!

The SL at Nordstrom said this top works better if you have slim hips.(which I do not) It is a very pretty top.

That's what I would normally do, but it's increasingly difficult for me to get to Nordies and I don't want to pay return shipping if I can avoid it.

Interesting about the length, Khris. I'm having second thoughts. I think I'm much shorter than you.

I had a Sweet Pea style that was loose in the bust and banded at the hip. The hips and length ran as small as the bust on most styles, and it was way too snug for me. Actually, I passed it on to my dd who is 11 and it fits her about right. Of course, ordering both sizes would solve the issue, too.

Knowing that one would be returned, is it possible to order an S and an M and keep the one that fits best?

My Sweet Pea experience aligns with yours -- snug in the bust.

I haven't tried it, but under the circumstances I'd go with the Medium. (size chart plus "size up" plus at least one person in the reviews saying it was too tight plus having taken a M before in this brand = medium as the safer bet.)

I love this top:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/sw.....tback=2385

The size advice confuses me though. It says to use your hip measurement to determine your size, then says to size up because it runs small. My hips are 35.5" so according to the size chart, I would need a small. But if I sized up I would need a medium. 38" sounds way too big though.

In the past I sized up to a M in Sweet Pea, but it was because their tops run snug in the bust. This top is loose in the bust and fitted at the hip. Maybe I should go with an M so the top is slouchy and blousey though? Ahhh, this is making my skull hurt. Has anyone tried this on by chance?
