Watching your style skyrocket this year, I can scarcely believe that you have recently felt off your game. From my perspective you have never looked better or truer to yourself. But I suspect this means you're ready for a new leg of the journey and I, for one, can't wait to see where it takes you! Not only do you have a great voice (in song and in writing) but you also have an uncanny ability to find precisely the right pieces -- even at bargain prices and places (like Target and Kohl's). Your eye goes immediately to the items that will allow you to produce the look you are after. And you've done a brilliant job of that in the past year, mixing these with older or higher quality new items, and making outfits that absolutely shine (even if you don't want them to outshine or over shine.)   I think part of your recent problem is that you are ready for some of the new runway ideas -- but they haven't filtered down into retail yet, especially in middle America. You're ahead of the curve.  That's what you get for hanging around here, I guess. Caro:  Brilliant!  Yes, that's what style monikers, rubrics, etc. are for --- inspiring creativity and keeping our "style values" in mind when we dress for the day! Ornella:  Hymns are meant to be sung by a congregation, and there's always harmony!  I think the process of thinking more intentionally about what I want to express through my dressing has been helpful.  I love words, particularly when they're sung!  You are expert at finding inspiration everywhere -- particularly to "seeing" inspiration.  My visual sense is not as developed, but I'm learning through you and others on the forum to "see" outfit inspiration everywhere.  All artists steal.  They express what they see, hear and learn from their environment. This is true style Ode of Joy! Part of me wants to sing from the same hymn sheet (ha!), but regardless of all that greatest-form-of-flattery stuff I worry that as an artist you might be disturbed with such approach. But, perhaps I could start working along my style being COPY and see where it takes me :-D But back to you... While reading your thoughts and thinking back about your previous style musings and search for clearer direction ( I *did* feel your pain), I remembered the film "<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120053/?ref_=ttmd_md_nm">The Saint</a>" and one line from it in particular: "...difficult childhoods, I believe, make the most interesting adult". So, with all that said - I cannot wait to see this next 'adult' stage of your journey. And on that note (ha, ha!), I did not have a chance to say anything about the outfits in your thread when you lined them all up to, but I think your style already SINGs, to me as the audience for sure, and - comment or no comment from me - I will always buy the ticket to see you on the stage. You are there, but it is all about (ha, ha, ha!) fine tuning. p.s. "Why shout when you can sing?" is one of those unpretentious truths that reflect great life philosophies. It should be printed on fridge magnets and for now I'm writing it on the Post It note and sticking on my fridge.
