For those looking for comfy silver flats, I found a wonderful pair of "chrome" Dr. Scholls at DSW. The fit reminds me of the MeToo Swans with a larger toe box.
They have a cute silver buckle on the toe. I can't find them on the site, but they were in the regular merchandise at DSW, not on clearance. They also had them in black.

April, that's interesting. Hmm, I thought both of the shoes looked about the same. Simply being silver makes them more dressy to me. Also the Lacie's have a bit of a quilted look, which fancies them up to my eye. I think they look fancier than my bronze me-too's. They are seriously cute AND comfortable. They passed the comfort test yesterday with flying colors: these will be 12-hour shoes for sure!

Angie - yes, I don't notice the elastic at all, except that I was marveling yesterday that the elastic may be a design feature they've added to address the customer complaints about the shoes slipping off at the heel. These don't slip at all. I'm in love with these. I may duplicate in the gold!

Sweet! So the elastic enclosing your foot is comfy? That would kill my feet. Glad it works for you, though.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I think the reason the Me Toos look more casual is the lack of a defined heel. I said this recently in another thread regarding flats -- when the bottom of the shoe appears to be all one line, instead of having a defined heel, it gives a more casual look. (Not that the "heel" has to be high -- even a quarter inch will be visible as a heel, from the side.) I have ballet flats that are truly FLAT -- i.e., the sole is all one line -- and they look far more casual than my ballet flats that sport a heel, even though the "heel" is less than a half inch. The two shoes you posted are a perfect example of this, Shiny. The Naturalizers have the defined heel, and so look less casual than the Me Toos.

BTW -- in retail terms, what makes the difference between a ballet flat and a "skimmer"?

Shiny, Love the shoes! Can you post a note on what you think of the BR when you get them? I'd love to get a lightweight denim for summer! Thanks!!

Yeah, I'm wearing them today. We're going to see a movie and it's TTOM so I'm all bloaty too. These jeans are like wearing running tights, except made of denim. I could literally sleep in them!! These will definitely be my "travel jeans." I always bloat up something fierce on airplanes due to the air pressure.

I posted photos when I first got them - they looked too big on me initially, BUT they shrunk, then shrunk again, then shrunk again.... (yes I put these in the dryer three x's). Now they are like second skin. I don't even have to hem them. And they were only like $58. Oh, and HIGH WAISTED. I think they are 10 inches.

My only concern about getting a second pair and chopping into clams, is that they may sproing up weird, if they are shorter. If you can picture it.

San, I'm hoping I ordered the right size; I ordered the 2p but I just checked and my other Martin's are 0's. Oops. Grr. I should've ordered them in two sizes so I could compare. Well, cross fingers!

Yes, I would definitely hem them to the knee. I like that they have stretch. I would love to get these UO skinnies in a clam-length version. I suspect those would work well: they are super comfy to wear, even though they are skin-tight. Tons of stretch, but don't stretch and bag out. I don't know how they do it. Of course my favorite skinnies are still the Earnest Sewns, which don't stretch at all, but the fabric is too heavy for summer.

The Naturalizers could work for others - and they are cute. It's just that the vamp is off for me. It's pressing in exactly the wrong spot on my big toe knuckle, if that makes sense. With the Me-too's I have just the barest hint of toe cleavage.

I ordered a 6W in the Cordos and found them perfect lengthwise. I think I may have to stretch the front a bit.

Feet are a very personal thing, much like bras. I don't really put too much stock into reviews for that reason, unless there is an overwhelming consensus (70% or more).

Love those BV shoes! They will look great under jeans.

Glad you had success, Shiny, and that you reported on the Naturalizers that didn't work. I had spied those (they're available in extra wide), but hadn't decided whether to try them or not. Your review will send me in another direction. I've considered trying these for my everyday casual:
http://www.shoemall.com/produc.....te-137582/

And these for smart casual:
http://www.shoemall.com/produc.....tegoryId=0

Maya -- I tried the Cordos and was terribly disappointed that the 6s were way too large, but they didn't come in WW in any smaller size. They seemed comfy except for being too large. The reviews did seem to indicate they tend to run large.

Those jeans are very cute. Are you going to make them into clamdiggers? I think they are cute the way they are too. My eye is adapting to the jeans this length for summer. I think I will try them too.
Thanks Shiny.

Edit: They are going fast, they are out of many sizes including mine. I hope you will let us know how they run in size and how stretchy they are, and if they bag out. The fabric content is a different combination than I've seen. They have quite a bit of stretch factor it looks like. Thanks.

Maya - I was worried they might be too casual, but I think because they are silver, they aren't. Does that make sense? I think they are really cute. I will wear and take photos as soon as possible - it's supposed to get warmer this weekend!

San - I ordered these:
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....pid=648851

... obviously they will have to be shortened. The key word for me was "Martin fit." I hope they fit like the Martin's. Usually their denim fits like nothing I could describe - all over the map! and definitely not flattering. I have always wondered why they didn't simply make their Martin's in a denim. But we'll have to see... hopefully it's not just marketing talk.

Those Me Toos look so soft and comfortable. I'm tempted, especially since you and I seem to have similar foot issues. Do they strike you as being more casual? Something about them makes them seem that way to me, but I can't put my finger on what it is, so I could be wrong. I don't really care either way--I think they look great.

I never found Naturalizer's dress shoes comfortable. I just bought these and so far they seem great but that's because they are almost more of a sneaker than a ballet flat.

http://www.endless.com/Natural.....mPage=cart

Most of the time they are too narrow or stiff for me though, even in a wide.

Most of the time my wardrobe is very casual but sometimes I wonder what I would do if I had to wear a smarter outfit. Ironically my most dressed up occasions are when I'm in the city and getting around on foot. I don't know what I would wear on my feet that would be both comfortable and appropriate. It has been on my mind lately.

Number one item on my list for spring/summer this year is the perfect pair of silver ballet flats. I looked and looked all last year and couldn't find any.

I ordered these two pairs from Zappo's and just got the package:

Naturalizer Quirk's
http://www.zappos.com/product/7517763/color/189133

Silver Me-Too Lacie's
http://www.zappos.com/product/7550603/color/632

The Quirks are not comfortable at all. There is something about the vamp that digs into my foot mercilessly. I could barely take a step in them. This is probably my foot problem: I have bunions on one foot that can be troublesome to fit. They are otherwise very, very similar to the Me-Too's, with lots of cushioning, except a bit stiffer.

Meanwhile the Me-Too's are PERFECT. They fit like a dream! In fact, I think they may fit a bit better than the bronze me-too's I've been living in. Time will tell. They seem less loose in the heel - I sized up to 6.5 like I usually do with ballet flats. They are not slipping off the back at all. There is plenty of room for my toes, AND my bunion, because the vamp is cut a bit deeper.

I'm in heaven! Cross another wishlist item off my list.... now as soon as the BR clams get here, I can decide which pair of the three I've ordered I'm going to keep.... then that just leaves the trench situation.
